Another day spent in a diner. Cal settled in with a book, but wasn't expecting to get too far into it with the experimental nature of the specials inspired by yesterday's class.

As promised, Dojima came skipping into the diner to see what the staff had turned their Mexi-Greco brainchild into.

"So now we're the cool and adventurous types, huh?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips as she surveyed the board. "Oooo... using my first name! Really, Stephanides, how scandalous!"

Cal looked at Dojima with eyebrows quirked in a muted confusion.

"That's your last name?"

"Where I'm from, calling a girl by her first name implies that you know her really well," she answered, waggling her eyebrows at him in a mock-leer. "In Japan, we list the family name first, then the given name. So, if I did things Western-style, I'd be Yurika Dōjima."

"Which, I'm already considered very scandalous, for a number of reasons, but one of them is because I let people call me by my family name without any honorific." She cracked her gum and tilted her head at the sign, grinning wider. "I don't generally let boys get quite so fresh as to call me Yurika, but I'll let you get away with it for today."

"Besides, I need to take a photo of this." Dōjima fumbled in her purse for her phone, grinning. "My father will have an absolute fit."

"Wait, wait, wait!" Cal said, reaching across the counter to intercept Dojima's process. "You can't; it doesn't work if that's your first name!"

"What? You don't want to be associated with me in a lurid manner?" Dōjima laughed, skipping backwards to hold the phone out of his reach. "Now I'm hurt!"

"Hey," Cal said, "I don't know how big your dad is."

He put a hand on the counter, to help push himself up to stretch even further beyond it for Dojima's arm. "And I never said that. It's purely business. It's either got to be both last names or both first names. I'd change the Stephanides, but Stephanides is much cooler than Cal."

"It's not actually my father you have to worry about. It's the guys on his security team," she said cheerfully. Which probably didn't help.

Still, she snapped her phone shut without taking the picture and returned it to her bag. "There. You're safe from the wrath of the Dōjima clan. Happy?"

"No," Cal said, hopping back down to his feet, and going over to the specials board. He ducked his hand into his sleeve, using it to wipe away the Yurika, and then replacing it with Dōjima. "There. Now it's even. And I don't have to also worry about Romeo having to come in here to have another little chat with me because I'm being unknowledgably lurid with his girlfriend."

There was a pause.

"If I'm going to be lurid, I want to at least be aware of it."

Dōjima sighed melodramatically. "He's not going to chase you down for another 'chat'. If he does, he and I will have words about trusting your significant other."

"If you want, I'll even tell him tonight that it was accidental-and-innocent luridness," she promised. "Since we both know the squirrels can't be trusted to get it right."

"I was mostly joking," Cal waved a hand. "Live and learn, and now, if I want to be lewd, I know how to do it with relatively no work at all."

"My name is practically meant for lewdness," she admitted with a laugh. "I don't know what my parents were thinking."

"And I only said you get that free pass for today. You try it again, I'll kick your ass!" Dōjima said, shaking a finger at him. "Now. Are you going to feed me or not?"

Cal shook his finger back, suggesting that he might hold Dōjima to that ass-kicking later. "Depends. What do you want and are you going to give me money for it?"

"Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirty!" Dōjima teased. "That sounded so, so, wrong. And why do I have to pay? I helped create our Mexi-Greco monster, don't I get a free sample?"

"Mexi-Greco?" Now Temari was just intrigued and mildly confused.

Cal's grin was both lopside and large. "Yup!" he said. "Mexican and Greek food fused into a delicious orgy of flavor in your mouth."

"Should I be concerned about my health if I try it?"

"You're eating at a greasy spoon diner named after some guy who I always imagine wearing a lot of flannel," Cal said. "What do you think?"

"...can't be worse than the travel meals," She decided. "Pick what you think I'll like."

"Mexi-Greco Stephanides-Dojima Special Burritos," Cal nodded. "Coming right up."

He sent the order back.

"How's it going, Fanbutt?"

"Good," Temari replied, trying to peer past him as if she could see how it was made. "I think I've gotten used to the cold."

Said the girl wearing three layers of clothing.

"You know it hasn't even gotten nearly as cold as it will, right?" Cal asked, unable to hold back a smirk.

"...I'm not going outside then."

"Gloves, hats, well insulated boots, and hot cocoa are our friends," Cal advised.

She perked right up at hot cocoa. "Do you have that here?"

That kind of noticeable shift toward the positive in Fanbutt was enough to make Cal laugh. "Of course we do. Want some?"
