Another day spent in a diner. Cal settled in with a book, but wasn't expecting to get too far into it with the experimental nature of the specials inspired by yesterday's class.

"Gloves, hats, well insulated boots, and hot cocoa are our friends," Cal advised.

She perked right up at hot cocoa. "Do you have that here?"

That kind of noticeable shift toward the positive in Fanbutt was enough to make Cal laugh. "Of course we do. Want some?"

"I like chocolate," Temari said loftily.

"Oh my God," Cal gawked theatrically for a moment. "Could there...might there actually be a girl underneath there after all?"

"We don't have it back home," She said, pretending not to have heard that.

"Yeah, well," Cal said, moving to start getting her the hot chocolate. "Can't blame you there, then."

Cal still thought it was just that feminine need for chocolate, though. He could think that, because he got it all the time himself.

"It just might make up for the winter."

"Should I put lots of marshmallows in it for you, too?"

"...are they good?" She asked after a moment.

This time, the gawk was a bit more genuine.

"You are getting marshmallows," Cal decided, "and I hope I'm never stuck in your world for more than five minutes."

"We have sweets, just not like here," She said with a shrug. "They're more festival food."

Or when she was traveling between villages. She was all over those treats.

"Still," Cal said. "No chocolate. No marshmallows. Do you at least have ice cream?"

"...we have sweet snow if you travel to the Snow Country," Temari said after a moment.

Cal stared for a moment longer, then shook his head as he poured Temari a mug. "No wonder," he commented, "you and Ino are always so cranky; too much sugar deprivation when you were young."

Temari snorted and took the mug, sipping it and closing her eyes as if it was the best thing she'd had in her life.

"Yamanaka is a product of Konoha. I don't doubt she had sugar growing up. My village is just less obsessed with frivolous things."

Cal grinned a little to himself, noting how if he ever really needed to get on Fanbutt's good side, he knew how to do it.

"Less obsessed?" he asked. "Or is it just that those frivolous things aren't as accessible there?"

"Maybe that as well," She admitted.

Cal smirked a little at that, too, and then checked over his shoulder toward the kitchen.

"Food's almost ready," he said. "Did you want your cheese flamed or unflamed?"

"Is there a difference in taste?"

Cal considered. "A little. Plus, the fire gives it a whole ceremony that really brings out the Grecian essence of the mix."

"I wouldn't want to miss out on the Greek part of it," She said dryly.

That dry tone earned Temari a little bit of a look. "That's the best part," he informed her. "But there's one catch."
