Dōjima had promised Cal ice cream for his birthday, and she had meant it.

Admittedly, he probably wasn't expecting the store to be filled with balloons, streamers, and people, but Dōjima tended to be a bit of a dork about things like this, especially when it came to her friends.

Besides, he had said it was okay if she brought a small army, so inviting the entire student body was perfectly acceptable, right? Right.

"Then I'll try to remember to get you some food after," he said with what he thought was a completely reasonable answer.

Then he sat.

"How are you otherwise? Did you do all right with the cold and all?"

She wrinkled her nose at him. She didn't want to3, geez. She wanted to sleep.

"I survived," Ino said dryly. "I'm more concerned about my plants. Some of them are looking really sorry after that."

"I, um, I might be able to help a little, if you'd like," though he wasn't sure if he could duplicate what he'd done to Penelope's plants the night of the dance.

"You never did tell me how those flower seeds I got you worked out," he reminded her.

"Help?" she asked. "Oh! And they're lovely, I swear I thought I told you 'bout them before."

"If your flowers are drooping. I did it once before the night of the dance in Penelope's room. Perked up her plants, even made some of them grow a little. But only if you'd like."

He was pretty sure he knew how he'd done it. And he hadn't actually used his abilities for a while. He was starting to think he was useless at them.

"Ooooh, yes please. Some of the plants in there are from Karal's world and I can't, you know, just get a hold of him that easy if they die."

He nodded and noted to himself that he should stop by.

"Whenever you'd like. You know my schedule is usually bare."

"Tomorrow is for sleeping," she said, laughing softly. "And Monday's booked up."

Nefarious schemes.

"I don't know when. Sometime?"

"Like I said, just come get me. Or tell me in class Monday."

She giggled then. "If I remember at the time."

'Think you'll be that tired?" he asked with a raise of his eyebrows.

Yeah, that was getting more giggles. "I think I'll be too busy wishing for class to end."

"Oh? I, well, usually I like Professor Atreides's lectures. They're interesting. Even if I'm not familiar with the countries everything's happening in."

"Her lectures are awesome," Ino claimed. "But yes. Monday's class will be very long."

Eyebrow raise.

She stuck her tongue out at him.

"Try walking 'round the dorms some time Monday during the day."

"I'll make sure not to fly in the window," he said with a solemn nod. Utterly serious. Yes.

Suuure.

"You'd better not," she said, wibbling at him. "Or it won't be as fun."
