Chilly Boulder, Late Saturday Afternoon/Early Evening

Dōjima had promised Cal ice cream for his birthday, and she had meant it.

Admittedly, he probably wasn't expecting the store to be filled with balloons, streamers, and people, but Dōjima tended to be a bit of a dork about things like this, especially when it came to her friends.

Besides, he had said it was okay if she brought a small army, so inviting the entire student body was perfectly acceptable, right? Right.

She held his cheek and kissed him. "I love you, too, and when you're ready, we can go. I would like nothing more than to just be alone with you."

"I'm ready to go as soon as we finish the ice cream. I spoke to a few people, put my gift over, and all that already."
