Ichigo made it into the shop after class and started his shift by feeding Jeremy a piece of candy bar. Ichigo wasn't even sure why he'd bought the damn thing as it was way too sweet to eat first thing in the morning. Jeremy had no objections however.

Ichigo blinked. "But... It's the 13th on Friday. Why is the Valentine's dance a day early?"

"So it's on a school night, silly."

Ino wasn't the one that had set the date.

"And that makes sense how?" he questioned, not caring that she hadn't. It was confusing.

"Easier to get people to chaperon is it?"

"I suppose," he allowed and then shrugged a shoulder. "Okay so dance. For Valentine's..." He paused. "How serious do you take that?" He figured it was simplest just to ask.

That got a shrug of her shoulders. That was kinda sweet.

"Not super serious? It's only my second one ever," she said. "But I like the party and dancing thing. And wouldn't say no to, you know, more but I'm pretty happy just... going."

"So we'll go then," he nodded as if she hadn't just told him they were going and he actually had something to say about it. The rest... he'd think about it and see what he could figure out. "I'll try not to step on your toes too much."

"You'll be fine," she said, beaming at him.

"Course I will, I'm always fine," he said easily, and he picked up his cup of hot chocolate to drink. "I told Angela that I'm a shinigami."

She chewed on her lip. "Why?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know. I didn't mean to. It was weird."

"You told her accidentally?"

"No... I just... couldn't say anything else," he blinked and that didn't make any sense.

Ino just kinda looked at him.

"I don't know!" he protested. "Angela said she was saying weird things too."

"So weird means telling her things I had to drag out of you?"

He paused and eyed her dubiously. "It just was like I couldn't lie."

Ino picked at her sandwich. "Okay."

He was still watching her, not sure if he bought that. "You don't seem to be okay."

She shrugged a bit. "I'm being stupid."

Ichigo frowned and leaned forward to tug her hair. "Then stop it."

"I will," she said, wrinkling her nose. "I'm trying not to be."

"Good, because it's silly," he said firmly and he leaned in to kiss her, making sure she knew that.

She kissed him back. Mmm.

He did put it that way and he had half a mind to repeat putting it that way if it wasn't for the squeak and the crumbling of paper that indicated that Jeremy had gotten on the counter and was trying to serve himself.

Blinking, Ichigo pulled back from the kiss, his hand still on Ino's arm. "Hey! Get off there!"
