MHA Poolside, Saturday Evening

With the weather finally fucking warm enough to be outside without fear of freezing, Loki was doing exactly that. Even with it being dark, it was still warm enough to drag his lazy ass poolside. Of course, he'd lit a few of those deck lamps to provide some light and had put smaller candles on each of the tables around the pool to create even more. It wasn't Christmas lights but it looked pretty fucking good.

He wasn't planning on doing much besides sitting out there and relaxing but he figured this was a step up from sprawling like a lump of nothing on his couch even if his couch was comfortable. Maybe he should have just dragged his couch out here.

Next time.

This time, he was content with his lounge chair, his many bottles of water, and his pool. Maybe he'd even get in. Or maybe not. He liked leaving things up to fate.

Fucking fate.

"You never told me we had a pool," Ben said as he approached Loki.

Loki eyed Ben oddly. "It's not that hard to find, Ben. Being, you know, a big fucking pool. It's in one of the brochures too."

Maybe. He hadn't looked.

"Oh, I've noticed it," Ben said. "I'm just criticizing your sales pitch. It's horribly incomplete."

"What do I look like, a fucking landlord?" Loki asked, smirking.

"Not really, which is why it's all the more shocking that you've managed not to burn the place down for the insurance money yet," Ben said.

Mina had been on her way to Caritas, but was intrigued by the lights she spotted outside of MHA.

"Hello?" she greeted.

"Hey there," Loki greeted with a wave and a grin. "You're out late. No bedtime, huh?"

It wasn't that late.

"I suppose I am somewhat of a... creature of the night," Mina said.

"All the interesting people come out at night," he agreed. "How are you?"

"I'm well," Mina said. "The past week has been rather... eventful."

"Hey, Mrs Harker," Ben said. "How are you tonight?"

"Rather well, I believe," Mina replied with a smile. "I do hope you are likewise?"

"I don't have any complaints," Ben said. "Especially with the weather."

"The weather does seem to be improving," Mina agreed. "It is a rather welcome development."

Sarah was just plain, old-fashioned bored stiff. The kind of bored that had her copy-editing Casey's old field reports before she pushed them aside impatiently and went for a walk.

Lights down by the pool were definitely a reason to linger for a bit.

"This would almost pass for a vacation spot," she said. "Hi."

"Think so?" Loki asked, smiling over at her. "Its got its perks, definitely. Add a few cabana people and some everlasting sunshine and I think I'd have a second business."

"You could charge people to swim in the pool once it's a little warmer," Sarah suggested idly, as she sat down by the side of the pool and unlaced her sneakers. "Might be a real money-maker."

"Yeah, but who would I charge?" he wondered. "People that live in the building? I think you guys would beat the shit out of me."

"Hey, Sarah," Ben said. "How's life on the third floor?"

"Pretty quiet these days," Sarah answered, smiling up at him. "I met a new neighbor, but otherwise my week's been mellow. How's yours?"

"Slightly busier than that," Ben said. "Was the new neighbor Matt the lawyer?"

The romantic mood lighting was lost on Matt, but he was pleased to find there was a pool in this place.

"Isn't it a bit late for swimming?"

"Who said I was swimming?" Loki asked, looking over at Matt. "I'm just sitting."

"By the pool," Matt pointed out, taking a seat for himself and placing the cane next to him on the pool chair. "In winter."

"Does it feel like winter out here to you?" Loki asked. "If so, you might wanna get a doctor check you out."
