Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 04/27 ].
Knowing he'd be too busy with graduating on Friday and packing on the following Monday, Chad knew this to be his last official day behind the counter at Groovy Tunes, and it was a quiet, peaceful sort of moment as he reflected on it, in between putting together a few things for the other employees as good-bye presents, to be doled out on their respective days. Each had a note, but there was another, more general note taped down to the counter now, thanking them all for being so awesome and stuff, as well as a number to reach him if they need anything, and a promise to check in often. And then he looked up over the sea of CD shelves, the music instruments, the listening booths, thinking about how he'd been with the store longer than he'd even been with Teddy, and reached over to scratch behind Prince Oscar Pedro's ears; the cat purred, lifting himself up to nuzzle against Chad's broad palm.
"Yeah," he said, "I'm gonna miss this place, Neko-kun."

Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Stepping inside, and setting Yei down before she even had a chance to really start up a good squirm, Hinata drifted over to the counter. "Good afternoon, Chad-san."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Prince Oscar Pedro, meanwhile, maintained a cool position on the counter for a moment, swishing his tail and giving Yei time before he hopped down gracefully to go sniff at her.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Yei, in a playful mood, darted away from Prince Oscar Pedro and around one of the shelves, with a flick of her tail.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
As Yei tore off around the shelves, Prince Oscar Pedro waited a moment, tail still swishing in the air, as if giving her a head start. He crouched, drew himself back in a build-up for a pounce, and then he was off after her, unconcerned, since this was his terrain, but hoping she could put up a good chance.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
For her part, Yei was certainly going to do her best, and raced down one aisle, around the next, and then wriggled under one of the shelves. Ha! He'd go right past her and she could run the other way! Yei thought herself terribly clever. She licked her nose in anticipation.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Sure enough, Prince Oscar Pedro did dart right past where Yei had wriggled. But he had expected to see a spot of white fluff disappear somewhere and, when he didn't, he stopped at the end of the aisle, lifting his head and sniffing about for her a little.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Yei eyed what she could see of him, mostly his haunches and tail, and weighed her options. And stealthily inched her way under the shelf so she was further down the aisle from him before darting out and making a break for it.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
And Chad was finding it hard to focus on Hinata with the cats being so entertaining. He grunted a little. "Yeah," he said. "I think by the end of the week, though, I'll be okay."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
"It'd be hard to not be okay, with d-diversions like this."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
"Yeah, I'm probably gonna miss him most of all."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Yei, for her part, had utterly no interest in what Mommy was talking about, rather more occupied with That Cat Chasing Her and quick as a blink scrambled under another shelf.
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
Chad shook his head lightly. "I don't think so. I'm not sure he'll like New York anyway. I'm hoping....maybe everyone here at the store could kind of...help take care of him. Groovy Tunes' been his home almost all his life."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
"I'm s-sure he'll miss you," she said. "And equally sure that y-you will have no shortage of people to make sure he's w-well."
Re: Talk at Chad -- 04/27.
"Good," said Chad. "I really didn't doubt that. I think he'll just be happier staying here."
