Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 04/27 ].

Knowing he'd be too busy with graduating on Friday and packing on the following Monday, Chad knew this to be his last official day behind the counter at Groovy Tunes, and it was a quiet, peaceful sort of moment as he reflected on it, in between putting together a few things for the other employees as good-bye presents, to be doled out on their respective days. Each had a note, but there was another, more general note taped down to the counter now, thanking them all for being so awesome and stuff, as well as a number to reach him if they need anything, and a promise to check in often. And then he looked up over the sea of CD shelves, the music instruments, the listening booths, thinking about how he'd been with the store longer than he'd even been with Teddy, and reached over to scratch behind Prince Oscar Pedro's ears; the cat purred, lifting himself up to nuzzle against Chad's broad palm.

"Yeah," he said, "I'm gonna miss this place, Neko-kun."

Today's Mix: Meow Mix

Groovy Tunes is open!

She could hardly have missed the fact that it was getting close to the end of the semester, so Hinata (with Yei in tow) made sure to stop by, just in case she didn't see him again, though she hoped that wasn't the case.

Stepping inside, and setting Yei down before she even had a chance to really start up a good squirm, Hinata drifted over to the counter. "Good afternoon, Chad-san."

"Somewhat at a loss with nothing to s-study," she said, her smile a bit bemused at that. "But more than passing fair otherwise. It is nice to see the w-weather warm up. How are you?"

Yei, in a playful mood, darted away from Prince Oscar Pedro and around one of the shelves, with a flick of her tail.

"Is there a great deal to put in order?" she asked, leaning against the counter.

For her part, Yei was certainly going to do her best, and raced down one aisle, around the next, and then wriggled under one of the shelves. Ha! He'd go right past her and she could run the other way! Yei thought herself terribly clever. She licked her nose in anticipation.

"I'd i-imagine that may take a while,' she said quietly. "After so long."

Yei eyed what she could see of him, mostly his haunches and tail, and weighed her options. And stealthily inched her way under the shelf so she was further down the aisle from him before darting out and making a break for it.

He was gaining on her! That was just not on and Yei bunched herself up, in preparation of leaping, and then leapt (with a bit of a scramble since counters were rather higher than she was used to jumping on) up on the counter and darted by, getting a laugh from Hinata.

"It'd be hard to not be okay, with d-diversions like this."

"You can't take him w-with you?"

Yei, for her part, had utterly no interest in what Mommy was talking about, rather more occupied with That Cat Chasing Her and quick as a blink scrambled under another shelf.

She was just going to wriggle further back, fur puffed up and getting dusty, and hoping Prince Oscar Pedro couldn't reach her. Ha!

"I'm s-sure he'll miss you," she said. "And equally sure that y-you will have no shortage of people to make sure he's w-well."

"Good afternoon," Alice said, her smile a touch wistful. This week seemed pointed towards good-byes; she dreaded them.

"Well enough, I suppose," she said idly. "It seems a great number of people are leaving soon, which is unfortunate. Though perhaps not for them, as many seem happy enough to go."

Alice nodded. "Is that a happy going, or a sad one, for you?" she asked. "Forgive me, I still haven't learned not to ask impertinent questions."

Alice nodded. "You've a home to return to, and you'll keep those you've met here close, as well. Bittersweet, perhaps."
