Park, Thursday Morning

With graduation this weekend, the school expected most of the graduation guests to begin arriving today. So, to make sure they felt welcomed, the student council had set up a small gathering in the park where the guests could arrive, mingle and relax before heading off with their guests and friends.

There were finger foods on a long table and nametags on the table beside it. Chairs were set out for people to sit and talk if they so wanted.

It was time to get graduation weekend rolling!

[This is just a tiny mingling posts for all grad guests, alums, expats, students, teachers and townies to meet up and talk a little. There's going to be a garage sale later and we encourage you all to go to that as well!]

He reached out and stroked her cheek with his hand.

"Your mother was fine. I only got worried when I saw you upset. The whole... I didn't want to tell her I came here a homeless orphan, and it is the truth. It's just not anything close to reality, of course. You know me. You know how things stand back home."

He breathed out.

"I was hoping she'd calm down and stop bothering you about me if I said something impressive. I'm sorry if I upset you."

She tilted her face into the touch of his hand.

"I was only upset because she kept embarrassing me by her awful, personal questions. I mean, this is the woman who told me if I take my top off, make sure I get the money first. I should have known. And... and if you don't want any part of me, because of her... I'd understand. You have nothing to be sorry for."

Amber love her ma, but sometimes she was just ashamed.

His hand dropped to settle on her shoulder and he gave her a soft, almost possessive? squeeze.

"That is the silliest thing you've ever said to me, Amber."

He leaned closer and gave her a faint smile.

"I'm reasonably sure that if you'd met my mother, you'd have punched her."

She looked up through her lashes at him, at the squeeze to her shoulder.

"Maybe it was just a tad silly," she whispered, her smile faint as well.

"That does make me feel better. I suppose, I mean I guess I just wanted to give you an out if you wanted. My ma is insane and I'm nothing like her." She hoped. "But if you did want out, I'd have to kill you."

Little grin.

He laughed just a little.

"There's my Amber," he said before leaning down to press a kiss to her lips.

Kissing him was the best thing to happen to her all day and she took adavantage. Damn anyone who looked on and couldn't appreciate their cuteness.

"I am yours."

"I'm honored," he told her, honestly.

Then he was too busy kissing her back.

"I'm honored," she replied, feeling incredible.

But yes, kissing. Nothing else was quite as important right then.

He chuckled into the kiss.

"It would be terribly inappropriate to bring you back to my room," he said in a whisper.

"No, no it wouldn't," she replied readily. "I want to spend my birthday with you."

He blushed.

"I--I didn't plan you a party. Just something private for the two of us. I h-hope that's all right."

Reaching up, she caressed his blushing cheek.

"I don't want a party," she admitted, totally honest.

He kissed her hand.

"Then apparently I planned right," he said with obvious relief.

"I love you, Liir," she said. It seemed appropriate at the moment.

His shoulders dropped a centimeter in relaxation.

He always loved it when she said that.

"I love you too, Amber," he said, wishing there was some better way to say it, some way that conveyed all of what that term meant. It always sounded lame in comparison to the feelings in his chest.

It was the same for her too, she just hoped that the look she gave him, what was in her eyes, conveyed the overwhelming feeling that was so much deeper.

She took his hand, held it between her two. She felt like she should say thank you, but knew he would think her silly.

"Will... will she be all right?" he said with a quick look towards the crowd.

"Because if so, I'd like to, well, I'd like to head back."

"Oh, yah, she'll be fine. Those two.. they'll be hitting the bar. Won't even miss me."

Re: Mingling

"All right. You know best."

He put his hand around hers.

"Should we go?"

Re: Mingling

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, let's go. I'm ready. I don't need to mingle." And she didn't need to see her ma or Loretta hit on anyone. Ew.

"Do you want to mingle? I don't want to keep you from mingling, Liir."

Re: Mingling

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
He shook his head.

"I'll mingle when the new people show up. I've actually signed up for a little sibling this time around, to help someone new. I thought I should, considering."

"Ah, that's so nice, Liir," she told him. Happy for him, but sad that she wouldn't be here to see it.
