Guilty as Charged - 5/29 - Late Afternoon

The walk to Guilty as Charged was more difficult than usual with the alligators and their unfortunate habit of spitting goldfish. In fact, the only reason Haley figured she avoided getting bit was because she was on wheels and she had fast reflexes to avoid them. Otherwise, she was sure it wouldn't have been pretty.

When she arrived at the shop, Haley figured that she probably wouldn't get any customers today with all the craziness, but she opened up anyway.

Lounging in her chair behind the counter and eating a crushed up bag of ramen as the hot option on her water cooler was broken, she was sort of dreading the walk home.

"...Loki told you about the oven, didn't he?" asked Daisy, unable to help chuckling. "And I think it's sadder that we have to meet like this. I've been an awful neighbour," to some... "and typically it's a bad sign if I meet someone first on the job..."

"That usually when I meet people on the job," said Daisy with a grin, "I'm escorting them to a cell, not their apartment. And the only reason Loki isn't explaining that story is because it means admitting he was wrong."

"Again?" Daisy asked. She couldn't help asking. And to make it seem less like a reflex, though, she made sure she added on, "And that one was all about Loki claiming that he could do anything. So I found something he couldn't do. Fix a stove."

After the inside blew up.

A look passed over Daisy's face, a frown, one that made it pretty obvious that, when it came to the law, there was no such thing as 'petty' or 'big.' It was all infractions against justice...

"He asks for it," said Daisy, "and then gets whiny when you do prove him wrong."

Distracted for a moment by a volley of fire from the troopers, Daisy jumped a little and provided a few follow up shots before she replied. She shook her head a little.

It did make her feel better, actually. Owning up to it, serving her time...infinitely better than weaseling out some excuse.

"A good break-up," she said. "Maybe another time when there aren't giant alligators everywhere, you'll tell me about it. Over drinks or something. And I can offer you some suggestions, maybe, about proving Loki wrong. I've gotten pretty good at it." And she allowed the faintest of grins, feeling slightly conflicted. Not because of Loki, but because it seemed everyone in this town had a past...

Except her.

"Since October last year," Daisy said with a nod. "And you've just moved in, right? You have Matt's old apartment."

"I don't think he was really here long enough to make a mess," said Daisy. "He was nice, though."

"Training?" asked Daisy, head tilting for a second, but then checking for gators. Still clear. Maybe they were learning that when they saw them, they got shot.

"Gymnastics," Daisy nodded a little in approval.

So she was flexible.

"Have you met Biff yet?"

Totally natural segue, really.

Daisy shook his head. "Just wondering. He's one of my best friends; Loki's, too, actually. Good guy; you should meet him."

Apparently, Daisy's clause about picking up people on duty didn't extend to attempting to pick people up for her friends.

"He's got a house," Daisy nodded. "18 Apocalypse. Best place to catch him is probably Sundays at the weapon's shop. There's a mediation room there; I use it to end ever week. Quite nice, really."

"That's not cheesy at all," Daisy, the queen of cheese when she was on, smiled. "Of course, that's probably what landed you in cuffs, too."

Daisy grinned faintly at that. "I should warn you, then," she said, "that's how Loki ended up with his tattoo."
