Fandom Fight Club: Atlas Gym, Sunday Evening [5.31]

Considering that the majority of the club had probably worked off a good amount of aggression against their reptile friends the other day, Ghanima was pleased to see how many people actually showed up. "Good evening," she said cheerily. "Nice to see no one got eaten by the fish."

"And if anyone got nibbled, chicks dig scars," Tyler said wryly as he ran a thumb over his lips. "So we are here to fight. Not because monsters are attacking us; because we're the monsters, and this is where our dark sides come out." A pause. "Or it might just be a chance to kick the shit out of somebody in a semi-sanctioned way."

"There is nothing 'dark side' about violence," Ghanima countered primly. "That sort of repressive and puritanical thinking leads to mental health problems." Not that she could talk. "And this is not a pick-up joint, Durden, no checking out those of us with scars."

"I think I got spanked for the week," Tyler said. "All right. Matches. Uh ... you two, you two, you and ... Ghani, who do you think?"

Her lips twitched in amusement at the shortening of her name, but she didn't correct him. "With that person there. And you and you, you make a cute couple. Hrm. And the person over there, and that one. Yes, you. Don't look so shocked."

"I think that's five," Tyler said. "Triela, see me on that mat, okay? Everyone else, go have fun."

Fiona was there, her hair a little out of sorts. She'd slept fitfully last night, but there was no way she was missing today.

Algren's options for today were somewhat limited.

Either he could stay home, get drunk, and write in his journal, he could go to Caritas, get drunk, and pretend to be social, or he could come to Fight Club, remain sober, and possibly leave with a black eye. Again.

Nathan really needed a social life.

Daisy seemed to be the sort of creature that just fed on and grew stronger when she was busy with a gazillion things, putting her in excellent spirits as she found a spot to stretch out a little more.

And tried not to be too amused over the line about a pick-up joint. Because, really, it was true. It wasn't. It was just that, sometimes...

In the way. Still burning a little from what Himura had said to her, Turtle stretched out toward with the determination to work hard and get one step further away from being in the way. Maybe she should even spar today; experience was the best teacher, after all...

Yes, that was a little song going through Minsc's head as he warmed up and stretched and threw big punches into the air, tight bulging muscles creaking a little with eagerness to take a beating.

...another beating, rather. He'd only been able to heal a few of his many gator bites and scratches since Friday.

So thankful not to be chosen, Griff leaned his back against a wall to watch the others spar while nursing his slight hangover with some very strong coffee courtesy of a stop at the Perk (which had been right where it belonged, surprisingly or not).

Jen was, as usual, stretching like a crazy maniacally single-minded stretching thing. She got banged up enough without pulling muscles because of carelessness, thanks.

Rose was stretching carefully. She'd been working far harder than normal the past few weeks and it was beginning to tell. With a spar already planned for tomorrow, she wasn't entirely unhappy not to hear her name called.

Triela was there and actually dressed for training. A thin sweatshirt and pair of sweatpants rather than a suit, and her hair pulled back in a pony tail rather than her usual style.

She looked almost oddly intense. Being here was an order, after all.

Beginner Area

This week, Ghanima was trying something slightly different, and was walking the beginner students through different types of Judo throws.

There were still the punching bags and other mats available for those who weren't interested in her lesson, or those that needed to get out any frustrations from the week, still. Anyone that was radiating tension wasn't going to be allowed to throw their classmates around until they'd gone at least two quality rounds on the bag.

Katchoo did go a couple of rounds on the bag, though she'd worked out a lot of aggression on the alligators the other day. She knew a little bit about Judo throws, but she was pretty rusty on it, so once she'd let up on the bags she hung around to watch.

Tyler watched for Triela, more than a little warily. He still didn't feel great about this whole situation, but it was what it was -- maybe the fighting would help somehow.
