The Gig, Sunday

Yesterday had been frustrating at times, but in the end things had worked out really well- especially as far as Firekeeper's stomach was concerned, those had been some excellent french fries.

So Firekeeper and Blind Seer were in a good mood as they opened up the Gig and did their chores for the day, telling the horses of their 'adventure' outside Fandom as they did so.

Lo, sometime around lunch, there came a visitor. With, you know. Lunch. Because the visitor was Francine.

"Hi!" she called to both wolves with a wave. "Want burgers?"

"Is food," Firekeeper replied. "Why would we turn down such?"

Perhaps because you were going sailing in a few hours and had a tendency to get horribly seasick?

"I'm really bad at coming up with reasons to turn down food," Francine said with a grin. "I brought apples too, for the horses. Or the people-shaped wolves."

"Human shaped," Firekeeper couldn't resist correcting. "Thank you," she added, remembering those things called 'manners'.

"Sorry," Francine said to Blind Seer. "Wolf-shaped wolves are people too!"

Blind Seer barked his agreement and Firekeeper gestured to the grass. "No table," she said apologetically, "but you can still sit if you wish."

Francine being Francine, she checked for ants before plopping down with the bag of food. She was all about a bug-free butt. "I haven't been out to see you in too long," she said, opening the bag and pulling out napkins and burgers. "We keep having crazy weekends."

"Hey, Francine," Tahiri called from the edge of the paddock.

"Hi!" Francine gave her a wave. "Want food?" Like she didn't bring enough for fifteen.

"Are you feeding a small army or something?" Tahiri asked as she headed over. Like she was saying no after yesterday.

"Well." Francine pointed. "Wolves."

"Point," Tahiri agreed, which wasn't related to the action since Francine had just done that. "What's the occasion? Thank-the-Force-this-weekend-is-normal, or just lunch?"

"Well, I was thinking just lunch, but I'm all for celebrating the other one too," Francine answered. "I think. Since I don't know what the force is."

Tahiri was, of course, hanging around as per usual even though she'd spent all day yesterday with Firekeeper and Blind Seer. When she wasn't talking to or wrestling with either one of them, she was off to a side of the paddock going through practice forms.

Who said anything about Sundays being lazy? Tahiri had really busy Sundays.

Karla hadn't been riding since she'd come to the island. As long as one wasn't counting relived memories of riding unicorns, of course. So she decided that today would be a nice day to come down to the stables, meet the horses, and perhaps take one out for a ride. It would be nice to be able to see more of the island, anyways.

"Karla, hello," Firekeeper greeted. "You ride?" Look, the majority of the people who came to the Gig on her day never actually rode the horses, it was a legitimate question.

Karla smiled at Blysse and nodded respectfully at Blind Seer. "Practically since I could walk," she confirmed. "Stables were one of the few places it was hard for me to get into trouble." Hard, but not impossible.

She examined the horses with a critical eye. "These seemed very well-behaved," she said, with something almost like a sigh. "They aren't even reacting to Blind Seer's presence." Karla hoped that didn't mean she'd be confined to a walk around the paddock.

Firekeeper snorted. "They is smarter than most horses I meet before," she explained. "And used enough to us after nine moonspans."

"If you ride much, Smudge is good choice. Unless you wish to go very fast, then perhaps Duke. Or Kally if you wish to make jumps. Bold... will do as he wish," she said with a shrug.

"Thank you, Blysse." It was good to get recommendations. Karla went into each stall to examine and meet the horses themselves. They were all landen, of course, which she'd been expecting. She couldn't help being just a bit disappointed, though. They were beautiful, and well-cared for, which was a plus. She cooed at each of them, letting them catch her scent and get used to her. "Are there specific places I can ride, or is the entire island open to me?" she called to Blysse.

"Wooded area have trails, but anywhere on island is fine," Firekeeper explained. "We only make those with little skill stay in paddock."

Tahiri, midway through going through the steps of a lightsaber form, waved vaguely at the newcomer.

She didn't actually work here, honest. She just hung out a lot on Sundays.

A female Karla didn't recognize. She thought she'd at least seen everyone by now. "Hi," she said, nodding appreciatively at the other girl's moves. "I'm Karla."

"Tahiri," she replied once she'd finished going through the steps. Then, because Karla couldn't one presumes read the narrative, she added, "I don't actually work here. I'm just a friend of Blysse's."

"Tahiri? Oh! You're Ben's Cons-- uhh, girlfriend. Hello!" Karla wasn't entirely certain how appropriate girlfriend was, especially since it was a new word, but he'd said things were awkward, not over. "I am very pleased to meet you," Karla said, smiling. "And more than a little envious of your footwork."

Karla can't read narrative, true. Just one more way we're all inferior to Deadpool.

Tahiri's eyebrow quirked slightly when she caught the correction, then decided she wasn't sure she wanted to know. "Don't be. I'm not that good yet," she demurred. "Good to meet you. Do I want to know what he's been saying about me?"
