Caritas; Thursday Evening

When Marshall came into work today he found a bunch of leftover chips from Cinco de Mayo in the back room. Well, he knew what he concentrating on tonight. Now if only he could find some salsa.

[I'll be slow from 8-10 since it's incest theater on the CW tonight]

Mina settled into the back room, a virgin Bloody Mary in her hand.

She was mostly there for the company.

"May I ask your new subject that you will be teaching?" she asked.

Nathan's own drink was about as virgin as a glass of Coke could possibly get. For the time being.

He smiled as he set the glass down.

"A bit of a crash-course to anyone unfamiliar with the island," he explained. "Lady Ghanima and I both remember the process of adapting to our surroundings when we arrived here. And, to be completely honest, this place and this century both continue to surprise me. We were hoping to do a favor to any students who feel the need to better adapt, by at least telling them about what they've gotten themselves into."

"A class that I think would benefit more than just students," Mina remarked. "Though do words really help the adaptation process? I have always been more of a fan of... letting them learn by experience."
shiroi_tiger: (Is that so?)

"Some experiences are better heard about than lived through," Nathan pointed out, though pleasantly. "I would hate to think what the zombie incident could have turned out like, if not for individuals on the island who were already aware of the place's potential to be very, very dangerous. And..." He offered her a small grin. "I really could have used some assistance when first attempting to make use of a telephone."

Evil things, telephones.

Mina chuckled. "Did the strange voices vex you so?" she teased.

The teasing, at least, earned a chuckle and a shake of his head.

"The voices, I was fine with. It was the ringing that drove me halfway to madness."

"And what drove you the rest of the way?" Mina asked casually, sipping at her drink.

Nathan grinned and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Teaching," he decided.

It wasn't the truth, by a long shot. But it made for an adequate reply, at least.

"Remind me never to teach. My sanity is all I have left, since the gremlins seem so ready to strip me of whatever dignity I have," Mina said. "But, I must admit, your choice of course matter is quite... acceptable."

Well, at least Nathan could probably handle it with more dignity than that Sex course he'd taught with Kirk.

Hopefully.

"Really, it isn't all that bad. The students are good kids, for the most part. It's the island itself that seems bent on making it into a challenge. I spend too much time worrying about them, when things go awry out there."

"And each time, the students band together like a regular grizzled militia," Mina said. "It must be something about America."

Apparently my CW station is showing a baseball game instead of "Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural." Be glad that you don't live in Chicago.

Ah, see, I'm from Maryland and we don't have a decent baseball team to replace TV shows with. That's why I root for the Yankees.
