Pots of miniature cacti filled every possible inch of display space at T&C today, and the plants were even jammed into a few inches that Didi wouldn't have believed were possible. When Didi asked Apu, he shrugged and muttered something about overstocking and sales that made it clear the cacti weren't going anywhere in the short term.

Until the plants were gone, shopping at T&C was a bit of a prickly experience. But at least the clerk was nice.

Care to buy a cactus?

She's staying carefully back from most of the shelves.

"So is today a special American cactus holiday that I don't know about?" Momoko smiled and gave a small wave as she approached Didi. "Hi!"

"If it is, I don't know about it either," Didi smiled back. "Hi! You look happy."

Momoko poked her finger at one of the displays. "You know these are actually kind of cute."

She shook her head and chuckled, then looked back up. "I am happy! But also, I'm kind of thinking of being mean to Jaime and wanted to talk to you about it. You are his roommate, right?"

Her smile had turned slightly evil.

"That would be me," Didi said, chipperness turning a shade guarded. She was mean to Jaime all the time, but when someone else was asking ... "What did you have in mind?"

"Yay! Okay, first, thanks for letting him take care of me when I was a hummingbird. I'm sure it was totally annoying having a bird in the room, but I really appreciate it. My cat kept trying to eat me!"

Momoko took a quick look around and leaned a bit closer. "And okay. See, he won't tell me when his birthday is, and the other day he took some pictures of me when I was completely covered in feathers! So I was thinking of calling his little sister to find out and maybe get a totally embarrassing story about him, too!"

"You were a pretty bird," Didi said, waving it off. "His birthday ..." she scrunched her mouth to the side. "It has to be this summer, unless he had it and didn't tell me. But Milagro would have way better stories than I do."

She leaned forward. "It sounds like a fantastic idea."

[OOC: Night!]

"It's good, right? I can't believe it took me this long to come up with it! My little sister is always telling embarrassing stuff about me, so I bet Milagro would totally be willing!" Momoko nodded eagerly.

[Night!]

"Sure. Or I can make something up if she isn't." Didi's sisters weren't the embarrassing stories types, but the Endless were Special. (Or at least Death was special.) "So ... are you here just so I don't spill the beans before you get a chance to talk to her? 'Cause I won't."

"Ah! No no!" Momoko shook her head. "I mean, yes please don't tell him, but that's not why I wanted to tell you about it. I don't actually have his sister's phone number and I was hoping that you could help me get it?"

"He'd probably tell me if I asked ..." Didi said. "But that's not much fun, is it? He leaves his phone out when he's in the shower. Want me to clear out some morning so you can get it?"

There was bouncing; she had thought of the phone but had no idea how to get it from him without asking. "That's genius! I mean, I don't want to make you leave the room or anything, but if you can let me know and I can come down and sneak a look at it?"

"~~In a totally handwavey way~~ I can do that," Didi promised. "You'll just look at it for a second, right?"

Momoko frowned. "I hope so. It's not a really complicated one, is it? Like some futuristic super cool computer phone, or something? I've never used his, since I always have mine."

Didi shrugged. "Sorry. Wrong girl to ask. I've never borrowed it either. They all seem pretty complicated to me."

"I know! Some are almost like whole computers!" Momoko nodded sympathetically. Despite the fact that she actually owned a video cell phone that gave her superpowers.

"If his is like that, I'll be totally sunk and have to come up with a different plan."

"If his is like that," Didi echoed, "I'll find a way to get Milagro's phone number for you on my own, okay?"

"If it's too complicated, it's totally a sign I should just try to bribe one of the professors to look it up for me!" She grinned. "Thanks for helping! I wasn't sure if you'd be willing to, but I was hoping!"

It could have been worse. There could have been Furbies everywhere.
