Fast Eddie's, Friday Evening

The staff at Fast Eddie's wasn't exactly thrilled to be hosting a student's birthday party tonight. Kids at birthday parties tended to hang decorations everywhere, order either too much cheap beer or none at all, and generally make a mess. The were too cool for that: They worked at a pool hall, not a Chuck E Cheese's.

Sure enough, when Tara came in to set up, she promptly began taping crepe paper and balloons in bright primary colors to everything as the staff watched with annoyed but tolerant looks on their faces.

Tara ignored their expressions. She needed Kennedy's birthday party to be nice. And, once the decorations were up, she was certain it would be. She just needed to wait for everyone else to get there.

"Just because I don't know I have them doesn't mean I couldn't use them," Jonas decided. "Maybe I'd get lucky."

She laughed and wondered if she should tell him the innuendo that was in the sentence. "Mayhap," she agreed, "but what'd you do then if you were?"

"If I was lucky?" Jonas asked and shrugged. "Celebrate!"

"Would you throw a party like this one?" she asked, sliding her hands over his shoulders.

"I don't think so," he laughed, shaking his head. "I don't know how to throw parties so it'd be a bit of a challenge to throw one myself."

"I'm certain there'd be many people eager to help," she reasoned. "Everyone likes celebrating."

"More kissing," he said, nodding.

She grinned and her arms slid around his neck. "I can manage that," she agreed as she leaned up for that kiss.

Unsurprisingly, Jonas thought he could manage that too. Which is why he was meeting her halfway and returning that kiss. His arms went around her waist and he pulled her a little closer.

Kennedy was definitely going to be mocking her later, but Beka thought it might be worth it. Jonas was warm and comfortable and twas too bad they were still in public for she had many things in mind that they could do next.

Instead she drew back after a moment, catching her breath. "If you pick a birthday, you'll get more kisses then too," she murmured.

"I'll pick a birthday," he promised, nodding. "I don't know if I can do it right now because my thoughts are a little scattered but I promise, I will pick one for me and for Gabe."

"Good," she smiled and tangled her fingers in his hair. "What's got you distracted?"

He blushed a bit and laughed. "I tend to get a little distracted when you kiss me. It's a good thing."

"I haven't managed to forget my own name so I don't completely lose my mind," Jonas joked. "Still, it's enough to make me forget just about everything else."

"So you don't remember your room number? That's going to be hard," she teased him.

"I know, it might rather difficult tonight but I'm sure I'll find somewhere safe to sleep. There are empty rooms," he replied.

"Mayhap you need an escort," she suggested. It would conveniently allow more of the touching.

"I wouldn't be against that idea," Jonas told her. "I think an escort would be the safest thing for me."
