Caritas; Thursday Evening

Almost a week had passed and Chuck still wasn't feeling any better about the situation he had been put in. He was dealing, but he knew he had to get over this brooding thing soon, or at least learn to cover it. He hated people hovering over him and, let's face it, the emo thing was annoying, even to him.

He settled down behind the bar with a bottle of scotch, figuring that was a step in the right direction to get him in a better mood.

"I mean, sure he's the dean and all, but sometimes people just need to be hit."

Luke and Mara wanted this girl to teach. Seriously.

"Yeah, Dimitri? Just threw a fit about me losing my temper and blah blah blah," she rolled her eyes again. "As long as we don't kill each other this weekend, it's cool. So yeah, when are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow night," she said, taking another drink. "Then it's mission, then Coruscant, and back here. Hopefully it'll all go okay." The mission she didn't worry about. The family stuff worried her.

"What's on Coruscant?" she checked, knowing she'd heard that name before.

"They're moving the capitol back. It's not even close to being ready, but they're rushing things so it looks like things are back to normal post-war. I'm apparently too public not to be there." She made a face at that. Being well-known was great when it got you what you needed, but it sucked when it got you pulled into more ceremonies.

Or when it got people wanting to kill you so they could end your family and yes, it could suck.

"Well, war hero and stuff," Rose pointed out. "Of course you should be there."

"I'd rather skip it. The boredom is strong with these things, and I can't text people during it or people will notice," she frowned.

Rose shrugged. "All that shit's boring, but it's not like they ask our opinion."

"Do you have to go to a lot of stuff like that?" she asked, since it sounded like Rose knew.

"Lissa does," she said. "So of course I go. It'll just get worse when she takes her place at Court."

"Ew," Jaina said eloquently. "If it helps, you have someone who knows your pain, then."

"I'll take it," Rose said, raising her glass (of coke sadly) to Jaina. "It could be a lot worse."

Jaina raised her drink that she should probably not still be having and asked, "How?"

"I could be a huge sap and say no friends to get through it," she pointed out. "What number is that for you?"

"Three." It'd be gone soon enough. "I passed my limit already. Oops."

"Not like there's going to be much time for it once you get home," Rose replied. "You should make the most of it."

"This is my thinking. Last chance to be irresponsible for a while and all." And given the weird night she was having, yeah.

"When you get back, we'll do it again," she decided. "And I'll get to drink too, and it'll be freaking awesome."
