Caritas; Thursday Evening

Almost a week had passed and Chuck still wasn't feeling any better about the situation he had been put in. He was dealing, but he knew he had to get over this brooding thing soon, or at least learn to cover it. He hated people hovering over him and, let's face it, the emo thing was annoying, even to him.

He settled down behind the bar with a bottle of scotch, figuring that was a step in the right direction to get him in a better mood.

Jaina was headed out tomorrow for what she knew was going to be a stressful trip, and after a stressful few weeks, she definitely wanted to just be out of her apartment tonight. She pulled up a seat at the bar, and checking out the scotch, said, "That kind of day?"

"That kind of week," Chuck said. "I take it you want something of the non-alcoholic variety?"

"I think it's a vodka tonic kind of day," she admitted. "Gotta stay unpredictable."

"Wow, I am truly shocked," he said, abandoning his own glass to get Jaina's drink. "Something bad happen?"

"Look at you at work on your night off," Rose teased. "Why am I not surprised again?"

"I'm on the wrong side of the bar to be at work, technically," Jaina said, and raised her drink to even show that she was off duty.

"You could be making Tino and Chuck do everything," she pointed out. "Do you need your phone to be saved?"

Rose was still in a fantastic mood over the thing with Dimitri earlier. It was even better that they had to go fly to St. Vlad's in an hour or two so there could be pissiness for the next few days. Excellent.

Which was why there was Rose in Caritas because she really didn't so much feel like hanging out with Dimitri until she had to.

"How much of that is for tonight?" she asked, eyeing the scotch.

Chuck looked at the bottle and really tried to make an accurate guess of it. "...I'd say most of the bottle. Why, you want some?"

"Yes, but I doubt I'd ever get forgiven if I showed up to go home drunk," Rose said. "Will you drink some for me?"

"I think I can manage to do that," he said, filling up his glass just to prove that he could do it. "You going home too? Seems like the thing to do lately."

Rose's phone may or may not be making noise, but she was certainly receiving a text.

WHERE ARE YOU?

It was a bit impatient, perhaps. Especially given she wasn't late yet.

Rose pulled out her phone as it beeped, and she rolled her eyes at the message.

Not late yet. I have 10 minutes.

With nine minutes to spare, Dimitri stalked into Caritas. Spotting a few familiar faces, a subtle smile crossed his face as he approached the bar.

Chuck totally swooned and ripped open his shirt and yelled "Dimitri, take me! Take me now!"

Hot guy in the bar! Chuck was always happy to see that. Especially when it was Dimitri. He didn't swoon or anything, but he did give him a little nod and a smile, figuring he was here to see Rose.

As Rose had made perfectly clear, there was time and it had been a while since Dimitri had gotten a good lean against the bar. He reached up and tucked an uncooperative hair back behind his ear before greeting the bartender of the evening.

"Good to see you again, Chuck." And look, even a smile.

"Nice to see you too." It was really, really nice to see him. "Can I get you something?"

Sadly, Chuck had the feeling he'd ask for a drink, if anything.

Jaina was maybe a little bit drunk, and weirdly, she didn't want Dimitri to know she was for some reason. Blame it on her time spent as stand-in bodyguard. So making sure she didn't slur anything, she said, "Hi."

Yes, because it wasn't fairly obvious Jaina was drunk based on the physical signs and the fact that she was spending the evening in a bar.

"Jaina! I hear we're neighbors now."
