Tino, in a futile attempt to piss Jake off, had apparently hidden the maple vodka.

Futile, because it took Jake all of thirty seconds to find it.

"Detective, ya moron," Jake rolled his eyes before pouring himself a shot.

Caritas was open, and Extremely Canadian.

Leave it to ~~one of my characters~~ Kūkaku to take advantage of ~~an early Caritas post~~ drinking on a Monday night. Hey, her class wasn't until Friday, and she'd gotten a lot of work done, for a day without much blowing shit up.

"Gimme a cheap beer," she demanded, lighting her pipe, "or whatever's free."

Hey, there was free shit that one time, why not give it a try.

Oh, look. It was the chick with the boobs who'd gotten in the fight that one time. That fight that had ended in Jake being punched for no reason at all.

"Budweiser," Jake decided. "It's not free, but no matter. Tino's buying." That's what he got for trying to hide the maple vodka.

"Don't matter much to me who's buying, so long long as it ain't me."

And, after a slow release of smoke, "How's your face?"

Jake shrugged. "Ain't the first time I've been punched, Lord God knows it won't be the last," he informed her as he poured the pint and handed it over.

"At least you ain't gotta worry about it in here then, right?" Kūkaku said, figuring that, outside of this place, there was a good chance she'd be one of persons involved in more hitting. She usually was, at any rate.

"True enough," Jake nodded. "Some shagger wants a bath in the pond, they don't needs to involve me in it."
