Caritas | Wednesday

Alex was decompressing after this past weekend. Currently, that involved a bottle of Jack Daniels, a glass and a glare. The first two were for Alex and the last was for Tino. Tino wisely stayed out of Alex's way tonight. He didn't need to get popped in the nose or something.

Kūkaku liked the bar, so shoot her.

She particularly liked the bar for seeing which bartenders she could get free booze from. Thank you, John Sheppard, look at what you've started.

"Hey, get me the cheapest beer you got," she started out, leaning her arm against the bar. "Or whatever you can get me for free."

Of course he did.

But Kūkaku just shrugged and said, "Because everyone else seems to hate the guy and have been giving me shit for free just to spite him?"

That's what she was liking about this place, after all. She almost wanted to meet this Chuck Bass fellow and give him a good slap on the back and tell him to keep on being an asshole.

"Cheap swill works," Kūkaku said with a nod, pulling out her pipe. "Gets you just as drunk as the other shit, right?"

Kūkaku shook his head. "Whatever's cheaper." She sparked the end of her pipe and settled it between her lips, which curled up in a smirk. "I'm easy like that."

"Maybe not to some," said Kūkaku, "but when all you taste is gunpowder half the time, it doesn't really matter what you drink, it all tastes the same, so you might as well save some cash."

There was at least one person perfectly happy to interrupt his glaring. Effy was used to it at this point, and just leaned elbows on the bar to look at him.

"Stare long enough, it might explode." It... probably wouldn't. But his look suggested he wanted it to.

"Wouldn't be the first time," she pointed out. Not even the first time in this bar. He had to know she wasn't against the idea.

"Still. Have to wonder. What that glass ever did to you?"

"Long as you can't really blow shit up with your mind, don't see what harm it's gonna do." Glare was a glare, and he wasn't really pissed at her, as far as she knew.

And like the lady she was, Effy wouldn't turn him down, and had no compunctions about leaning over the bar to steal her own glass.

"Seen it, still here." He glared a lot. If she was freaked out by that sort of thing, she would not have stuck around this long. "What's that tell you?"

Effy nodded easily as she poured herself a drink. Having him around after over a year of very little contact had pushed her to realise all over again how much she missed having him around.

But seeing him? That was good.

"You?" You'd think he'd be happier, considering Aaron seemed to like him enough to visit and seem relatively well-adjusted and all.
