The Beach, Friday Night

Half the island seemed to have gone completely barmy, but the insanity had somehow managed to miss Jonothon somewhat. Difficult to burst into song when you had no mouth, after all.

By some miracle, he'd managed to set up something that somewhat resembled a stage using scraps scavenged from the abandoned warehouses, and he'd built a huge bloody bonfire on the beach, which he'd lit in his own special way while nobody happened to be looking. And, of course, this being the fifth of November, he'd even found a way to wrangle some fireworks.

Don't ask how. Jono could be resourceful when he wanted to be, damn it.

Now, really, all he needed was an audience. And a vocalist. Where the hell was Christian, anyhow?

[Open to all, with threads for Glee Club, Jono's band, and everyone else who wants to sing, too!]

"I sure as hell hope so!" said Kūkaku. "I don't wanna be blamed for killin' some kid 'cuz he couldn't handle the awesome."

"Yeah, just keep outta the line of fire," Kūkaku said, "and we won't have to worry about blowin' off that other half of yer face."

"Yeah," Kūkaku noted, "you can do a hell of a lot more with your half than the half I've got."

To which she waved the arm stub for emphasis.

Kūkaku was a terrible person.

"And you got that creepy mindspeech thing goin' on for ya, too." Kūkaku, clearly, decided not to discover a thing called tact any time soon. "Most people in your position just have to gesture."

Kūkaku didn't say anything tactless this time. Instead, she just decided to glance toward her stub of an arm for a second, and then look back at him with an arch of an eyebrow that suggested that, even with one hand, she could probably sign something with a pretty bloody clear message for him, indeed.

Like Kūkaku actually cared, though she did feel a little bad when she made people believe she actually did care, so she made up for it by going to give him a reassuring pat on the back.

Well, it was more of a reassuring thwack more than anything else.

"Jus' watch yourself next time, kid," she said. "What the hell is taking those lugs so long?"

There was a bit of a pause, and Kūkaku actually straightened a little, eyes growing a bit wide.

"...no, I think it's probably the booby trap I left ready in the workshop door..."

It was something she might have been working on for Holmes...

"Eh." Kūkaku then instantly relaxed, waving a dismissive hand. "They've been through worse. You saw the two of 'em; they're pretty sturdy boys."

"Positive," Kūkaku nodded. "You don't spend as much time around me as they do without growin' a thick skin."

As Jono was probably about to find out sooner or later, whether he wanted to or not.
