Groovy Tunes, Tuesday
Another shift, another loud-music day at the Groovy Tunes.
What did that mean? That meant that Jonothon was writing, once again, stupidhappy chipper flowery nonsense as requested by Ino, the content of which had at least been inspired in no small part by a trip to London with Raven over the weekend that hadn't gone completely to hell.
... And then he was interspersing those writing periods with Pearl Jam, turned up very, very loudly. Sort of like chipper-drivel-detox, really.
The kitten was starting to learn that no matter where she hid in the store, there was no escaping "Do The Evolution" at 120 decibels.
[Open and OCD-free!]

"Loud, much?" she complained, which was a fine thing for her to do considering the level of volume she regularly subjected her plants to, but...
That counted as a hi, maybe.
no subject
... Well.
At least Jono wasn't too into his music to turn around and adjust the volume a little bit. You're welcome, Ino.
//Afternoon, luv.//
no subject
Though she could.

Note, mind, how for all of his whining? He was still writing it.
And maybe enjoying it a little. Shut up.
no subject
"You don't fool me," she said lightly. "If you really didn't like writing it, you wouldn't be."
And, on a telepathic level: //I do appreciate it--both the reduction in volume and the songs.//
no subject
He was smiling a little. This was one of those moments where tone outweighed whatever the heck is was that he was saying.
no subject
Just a smidge.

The chill could make or break it. People don't like stopping to listen to music in the cold unless there were Christmas carols going on, generally.

"HI JONO!" she said, nice and loud so he could hear her.

Jono paused for a moment to crank the volume down to something less eardrum-damaging, nodding a little hello.
He was in a good mood. Could she tell?
... Angry music aside?
//How're you today?//
no subject
"Very, very good!" Ariel answered with a bob of her head and a bright smile that had lasted through patiently waited through the decrease in volume. "How are you?"
no subject
... Which was something of a novelty for him. He idly wondered if he ought to start looking for something, really.
//You had a good vacation, I hope?//
no subject
Her head tilted slightly, noting something off.
"Where's Joni?"
no subject
Jono glanced around, and then shrugged and bent over to peer under some of the shelving. There, tucked away in a corner with her head buried as far under the rest of her as it would possibly go, was his little tuxedo kitten.
//... You know, I don't think she cares much for Pearl Jam.//
no subject
That's what you get for talking to a mermaid, Jono. She had pearl jam on spongecake just about every other morning for sixteen years, after all.
She bent over a little herself, peering under the same shelving so that she could give Joni a little smile and a waggle of her fingers in greeting.
no subject
The one they were listening to, actually.
Joni gave her tail a little bit of a flick, and sniffed out toward Ariel's fingers. Oh, it was you! The sane person who didn't hurt kitty ears with loud sounds!
no subject
"That's right, Joni, come on out and say hello!"
Ariel spared a smile toward Jono in her attempts to attempt the kitty back out into socialization as she asked, "Did you have any plans for the duet competition in Glee Club this week? I was thinking you and Blackagar could do something, but he usually pairs up with Medusa."
no subject
//I really didn't have any plans,// Jono replied, shrugging a bit. //I don't have much need for free breadsticks, really, luv.//
no subject
But the attempt to bring the kitten out was interrupted with a slight roll of her eyes. "More for the other person, then," she said. "You could just be glad for the company, you know. Or take a few home with you and then when they get hard, you've got free drumsticks."
Ariel was not one to let anything go to waste.
no subject
He shrugged.
//I don't know, luv. It's not that I have anything against Blackagar, or music competitions, or... sitting and watching people eat...// Which sounded like an excellent time to him, truly. //But I think we'd be a bit of a novelty act. Two mutes and their noisemakers, pairing off against a dozen talented vocalists.//
