Groovy Tunes, Tuesday

Another shift, another loud-music day at the Groovy Tunes.

What did that mean? That meant that Jonothon was writing, once again, stupidhappy chipper flowery nonsense as requested by Ino, the content of which had at least been inspired in no small part by a trip to London with Raven over the weekend that hadn't gone completely to hell.

... And then he was interspersing those writing periods with Pearl Jam, turned up very, very loudly. Sort of like chipper-drivel-detox, really.

The kitten was starting to learn that no matter where she hid in the store, there was no escaping "Do The Evolution" at 120 decibels.

[Open and OCD-free!]

And, 'lo, there was an Ino bouncing in sometime during her lunchbreak (oh, about five minutes into it, shut up she was excited) and coming to a stop as the music assaulted her.

"Loud, much?" she complained, which was a fine thing for her to do considering the level of volume she regularly subjected her plants to, but...

That counted as a hi, maybe.

"Afternoon," she said, leaning against the counter and wrinkling her nose cheerfully at him. "Dare I ask why you had that so loud? Just 'cause you can talk through it don't mean everyone can."

Though she could.
intraspective: (OMG!)

Ino grinned at him.

"You don't fool me," she said lightly. "If you really didn't like writing it, you wouldn't be."

And, on a telepathic level: //I do appreciate it--both the reduction in volume and the songs.//

"You love it," she said loftily. Then shook her head. "My boyfriend said the first song is pretty catchy," Ino shared, "though I freely admit that he is entirely biased."

Just a smidge.

"Could try it out next time I'm in Midgar," she said lightly. "Singing on a street corner--even if I weren't lookin' like I was singing for any reason other than wanting to sing, it's rare enough that I'd definitely get some attention drawn."

She lifted one shoulder. "Can't say they don't have none," Ino replied, because that would be ridiculous to say that far. "But it's not a cheerful place and no one would be singing what I'd be singing."

"I could probably get you some," she mused, flipping through her phone to see if she had anything saved. Ino didn't think so, but--downloading stuff at three in the morning always led to surprises the next week, so checking didn't hurt. "It's not bad music. It's just not very--sunshine and sparkles."

120 decibels was nothing to deter Ariel as she bounced into the store on her usual stop after her own work shift.

"HI JONO!" she said, nice and loud so he could hear her.

The angry music was just par for the course, really.

"Very, very good!" Ariel answered with a bob of her head and a bright smile that had lasted through patiently waited through the decrease in volume. "How are you?"

"You mean when I went home for my birthday?" Ariel asked. "Or the holiday? I stayed here for the holiday; we don't celebrate Thanksgiving back home..."

Her head tilted slightly, noting something off.

"Where's Joni?"

"What does pearl jam have to do with anything?" asked Ariel, eyebrows frowning.

That's what you get for talking to a mermaid, Jono. She had pearl jam on spongecake just about every other morning for sixteen years, after all.

She bent over a little herself, peering under the same shelving so that she could give Joni a little smile and a waggle of her fingers in greeting.

Although there were the occasional excitable snuggles.

"That's right, Joni, come on out and say hello!"

Ariel spared a smile toward Jono in her attempts to attempt the kitty back out into socialization as she asked, "Did you have any plans for the duet competition in Glee Club this week? I was thinking you and Blackagar could do something, but he usually pairs up with Medusa."

And Ariel was a champion snuggler. You know it's true, Jooooooniiiiiiiii....

But the attempt to bring the kitten out was interrupted with a slight roll of her eyes. "More for the other person, then," she said. "You could just be glad for the company, you know. Or take a few home with you and then when they get hard, you've got free drumsticks."

Ariel was not one to let anything go to waste.
