Groovy Tunes, Tuesday
Okay. So, that Christmas thing hadn't been so horrible. Actually, it had been rather enjoyable. It had involved spending time with people that Jonothon... didn't hate, at least. A nice tree. Presents.
Warm weather. Thank you, Bon Temps.
But now it was back to the island, and back to work that might as well have been play. Jonothon could live with that, too. He was working on unpacking another shipment of CDs, every now and again wadding up the packing tape from the cases into a ball and throwing it across the floor for Joni to chase.
... And to get stuck to.
There was no better way to prepare the shop for next week's influx of new students to the island, if you asked him.
[Open and shunning the OCD, foreverrrrr!]

and she didn't mean Paige.Hopefully Jono wouldn't mind finding himself with an armful of clingy Raven.

Joni (complete with bits of tape stuck here and there throughout her coat) was going to take this opportunity to wind herself in and around between their legs.
//... Bad day?//

//Only a dream, then,// he offered, gently. //Would you like to talk about it...? Get it off yer chest at all?//

She drew back and bent to pick up Joni to give herself a moment to collect herself by giving the cat a kiss and gently pulling off a piece of tape. "I do not remember much of it," she said. She hated lying -- it made her feel sick inside -- but she couldn't tell him what she'd done.

She was upset by it enough to come running to him before work, but she didn't remember the dream...?
//Well, if there's anything at all that I can do...?//
At least Joni was purring.

She shivered, hiding her face for a moment by pressing another kiss to Joni before letting her jump back down to the floor to stalk another ball of tape. "You are doing much by being right here, safe and well," she said, looking back to Jono, as much as an admission as to the content of her dream as she could manage.

Which was something that he wasn't terribly used to being able to say.

"And I was very happy to spend the holiday with you," she added, her right hand going to her left wrist to touch the bracelet she wore there.

Otherwise, he would have spent it here, possibly even in the shop, sulking.
Lots and lots and lots of sulking.

Which was 'yes,' in Jono-ese.

"Perhaps there will simply be a dance at the town hall," she went on. "Or if not, then yes, we could simply do something together." Her smile was much less forced now. "And I must get a kiss at midnight."

If anyone had told him a few months ago that he'd be talking so casually about kissing somebody, he might have laughed at them. Or, at least, moped about a bit.

... That was about as overdramatic as it got, with him.
//Honestly, luv. With a look like that, it's a wonder that anybody can say no.//

He hesitated for a few seconds, not quite certain what to make of that laugh, before pushing bravely onwards. //Feeling better, Sunshine?//

"Perhaps it is just stress giving me unpleasant dreams," she said idly. "Though I am uncertain what I would be stressed about. Unless it is what classes I will end up in next semester, for at times I have been assigned ones with which I am very uncomfortable."
Look! A subject change!

//Still stress?// Mystery stress now, it would seem. There pretty much had to be more going on than she was letting on, now, but Jono wouldn't know where to start, actually calling her out on this 'stress' thing that she kept... stressing. //Th'classes this semester didn't look all that terrible, really. I'm almost actually excited about a few of them, imagine that?//
This semester looked a fair bit more academical than some of the ones he'd been here for.

She'd take Ethics over and over and over again though if she could.
[...dear self, hitting POST helps.]

... Even when he was being cornered and asked about his intentions after class.
//Mm, I see what you mean, with Holmes,// he mused. //Though at least it looked as though he has his Watson co-teaching there to temper him a bit.//
Not enough temperance for the burning mutant, but it was slightly reassuring all the same.

She wasn't being mean. She was just expressing her sense of "eww."
