Last night, after a day of twisting herself up about things she didn't want to think about and decisions she didn't know if she wanted to make, Kate had finally checked the voicemails she'd had in her phone since Monday evening but had been too tired and blank to listen to.

It was those messages, along with the phonecall that had followed, and the roses that had arrived for her this morning that had left Kate in a far better mood than she'd been in yesterday. Apparently, Zach couldn't eat or sleep or stop thinking about her. She considered that a well-deserved win for herself, and was intending to cut her workday a little shorter in order to leave for Kansas already today for a fancy date tomorrow.

But until then, she was going to be here, playing with the single red rose she'd brought with her to work.

She's most likely either twirling the rose between her fingers, or writing a list of things she needs to pack on a Post-It.

Maybe Jeremy was feeling a little homesick, but when he saw what film was playing, he had to stop by this quaint little movie theater. And having bought his ticket, he was also going to need popcorn, and maybe a soda.

And if he could get those from a pretty girl, then all the better. "Hi," he said, smiling, as he walked up to the concessions stand. "Can I, uh, get a large tub of popcorn, please?"

Kate had been pretty engrossed in her list writing, but her head snapped up at hearing that voice. Really, sending surprise belated Valentine's Day flowers was one thing, but actually showing up announced? A little creepy. A little Gene-esque.

"... Uh."

Yes, she was just going to stare now. Things would start computing in a minute.

And while that minute was passing, Jeremy was going to be looking confused. Usually, he had to do something instead of just showing up to get girls to stare at him like that.

"Popcorn?" he tried again, then frowned a little at her, with some concern. "Uh, are you okay?"

The eyes were the same, and the voice, and the face. Even the confused expression, but he was... He was too young. Far too young, too floppy-haired, and the way he was dressed didn't match up all that much either.

"You're not Zach," Kate breathed, then realized what a freak she was being and looked down, huffing out a laugh that was far too relieved. "You're not Zach. Okay, I'm sorry."

"No, I'm Jeremy," he offered, smiling again now that it seemed that the confusing staring had stopped, at least. "Jeremy Darling. Who's Zach?"

"Oh, he's this... guy I'm kinda seeing, back home," Kate replied, still a little flustered and embarrassed, but smiling all the same. "I swear, you look just like him. It's a-- a little freaky, but that happens here in Fandom." She shook her head. "I'm sorry if I weirded you out."

Nathan didn't have anything else to do and he remembered he'd said he'd visit Kate and he was sure she had some fun stories after this weekend so he strolled on up with a smirky grin on his face.

"What's up, Mom?" Well, he'd witnessed that and maybe it was better than calling her Katie?

Well, Katie on its own was pretty okay. Katie from the Midwest was not. A subtle difference, there.

"It was Mum, actually," she replied, rolling her eyes. "Or Mommy."

"It's good to see you accepting this role so readily," he said, snickering. "Now all you need is the actual baby in your belly and the guy crying in the corner because he's knocked you up."

"No thank you," she drawled, leaning her hands against the counter. "That happens every year, by the way. Though as far as I understand it, it's usually after prom."

"Oh, how thrilling," he said sarcastically, shaking his head. "Something to look forward to then, yeah? A bunch of limp lunged kids running around preventing me from smoking and drinking like I want. When did I get so moralistic?"

Once Jeremy had successfully acquired his popcorn and his soda (and left Kate to deal with this random encounter all on her own), he settled in to watch the movie.

And wondered whether he should call his sister to join him or something.

Kate was going to interrupt that brooding by wandering into the office, rose tucked behind one ear now, and looking like she'd just seen something she wasn't sure how to react to.

"I just had a random run-in with everyday Fandom weird."

Mitchell had to award that with a momentary lapse in his brooding, if simply so he could put down his coffee. "...Don't tell me it's more children."

"No, it's not more children." And thank Christ for that. "It's, uh..." She waved a hand in the general direction of the theatre proper. "A guy who looks like a teen version of the guy I'm sorta seeing just came in to watch the movie."

Had she even told Mitchell she'd been seeing someone? No? Well, he was hearing it now, whatever.

I swear to god when Jeremy first made it into the game, I spent about two hours staring at his icons going "I KNOW YOU."

And then I went, "HA, NOW I KNOW HOW CORAZON FOUND YOU."
