It was just about time to depart for the annual Fandom High Spring Break trip. Portals had been called, arrangements had been made and now all the group had to do was wait for the scheduled portals to appear.

The causeway was a mess of students and adults, carrying bags and talking excitedly about whatever plans the might have for the upcoming week. It was chilly in Fandom but the group was about to head to the sunny shores of Hawaii. Hope you packed your sunscreen!

Kate was psyched enough to be going to Hawaii, sure. Some random feeling at the back of her mind was just making her a little more subdued about it than she should've been. She just felt like... she was going alone. Which was a stupid and weird feeling to have, and when Zach had offered to take time off work and book himself into a suite at their hotel, she'd said no even though the idea had sounded really enticing. Now she almost wished she hadn't.

But she had big black sunglasses on and a little smile plastered on her face as she waited.
