The Causeway | Morning | Sunday | February 20

It was just about time to depart for the annual Fandom High Spring Break trip. Portals had been called, arrangements had been made and now all the group had to do was wait for the scheduled portals to appear.

The causeway was a mess of students and adults, carrying bags and talking excitedly about whatever plans the might have for the upcoming week. It was chilly in Fandom but the group was about to head to the sunny shores of Hawaii. Hope you packed your sunscreen!

Jonothon was not exactly a social butterfly. He had to check these things, to be certain.

Well, Kate remembered his name mostly because a guy talking straight into your head kind of made a lasting impression, so she had no reason to complain.

"That'd be me, yeah," she confirmed with a little nod. "Only Kate around, too."

//Which narrows things down nicely,// Jonothon replied. //I hope yer vacation isn't too ruined, now that yer token female companion is... erminey.//

That was a word, now.

//It's Hawaii, at least. I can't imagine that it'll be too terribly boring.//

"Oh, it's gonna be fine," Kate said with a little dismissive wave of her hand. "Not like I don't have other friends. And yeah, It's Hawaii so I can't see it sucking too hard either way. I hope Emma doesn't get in the way of your holiday too much either."

//I really didn't have big plans for it,// Jono admitted. //I think so far, my big ideas have mostly involved being very appreciative of the air conditioning in th'hotel.//

Jonothon Starsmore was so truly ambitious.

//Maybe play some guitar or something. Unless she chews through th'strings, there's not much that Emma can do to mess that up, I don't think.//

He was confident that if she wanted to, she would find a way.

Yes, Kate was of like mind there. "It's Emma," she said, like that was really all that needed to be said about that. "You shouldn't say stuff like that, she might take it as a challenge."

Jonothon went maybe a little cross-eyed as he tried to peer up at the ermine that was perched on his head.

//If she tries it, she'll be eating cat food for th'rest of th'week.//

For the record, he absolutely deserved the bite to the ear that followed that statement.

And Kate snickering, that was probbly deserved too, wasn't it? She thought it was, at least.

"Yeah, I'd avoid saying stuff like that, too," she adviced. "Seriously dude, you can't win."

His nose wrinkled a bit as he lifted a hand to rub at the chomped-on ear in question. Bloody hell.

//Really, I don't need anybody to point that out,// he groused. //I've more or less noticed, over th'years.//

"Clearly it hasn't stuck enough if you just got your ear bitten," Kate couldn't help pointing out with a faint smirk. "But, I think I'll leave you and your furry friend alone now. Have a good holiday, Jono."

//Mm, take care, Kate. I'll let Emma know you were looking for her, if she turns back through th'week. Maybe you'll get dragged around all th'more, to make up for lost time.//

Added bonus? If Emma was dragging Kate around, then Jono was free to chill out by the air conditioning, being antisocial.
