The Causeway | Morning | Sunday | February 20

It was just about time to depart for the annual Fandom High Spring Break trip. Portals had been called, arrangements had been made and now all the group had to do was wait for the scheduled portals to appear.

The causeway was a mess of students and adults, carrying bags and talking excitedly about whatever plans the might have for the upcoming week. It was chilly in Fandom but the group was about to head to the sunny shores of Hawaii. Hope you packed your sunscreen!

[This is the general HAI WE ARE GOING TO HAWAII POST YAY. Feel free to ping on in, talk to each other, be excited, etc. Up early for maaaaaaaaximum slowplay!]

"Yay!" Relieved Karla was relieved. "I just thought it would be weird getting you flowers and that seemed a much more sensible alternative."

Because, yes. Karla had seen that bouquet and immediately had been struck by the sensibility of the idea.

"I tried to get them to add crepes, but apparently there's a limit to my persuasive skills."

Warren's answer to that was a soft chuckle and a little shake of his head.

"It was just fine without the crepes," he decided. "But if you've got your heart set on those, I'm certain there's some place somewhere in Hawaii that sells them."

"I don't ever think there's a time when I don't want those crepes," Karla pointed out, dimpling. "Which means it's probably for the best that I couldn't get them added to your gift. They might not have survived to get to you."

"And then I never would have had tulips made out of pineapple slices?"

And he never would have known, in order to be sad about it!

"So, it's a plan, then. We find some time in our busy Hawaii schedule to hunt down crepes, just the two of us."

Karla's smile turned a little shy as she nodded. "That would be really nice," she said softly. "I'm looking forward to it already."

Her shy smile meant that his own smile was softening slightly, and Warren was going to take this moment to chew on his lip and duck his head a little.

"Now, I guess the question is whether we make plans now, or if I should be aiming to sweep you away when you least expect it."

"I don't suppose I can be terribly selfish and ask for both?" Karla said, peeking up at him through her lashes. "Sweep me off my feet for crepes, but maybe plan a few other things, too? I'd like to see you more than once this week, I think."

"It's been kind of crazy lately, hasn't it?" Warren's smile went a tiny bit lopsided. "I'd like to see you a bit more, too. I think that means that I'm pretty much obligated to start looking things up and planning them out."

"The swarm of children lasted through Monday and then I was gone Wednesday night," Karla said with a sigh. "And I spent most of yesterday trying to catch up on sleep and calories, so you didn't miss much there."

She swung her hand out to catch his, but turned it into brief brush of her knuckled against his before letting her arm fall against her side again. "I'd be happy just spending time with you out on the beach, reading or swimming or having a picnic or something. So don't exhaust yourself with planning or anything. Really."

Sleep and calories. Warren's lopsided smile managed, somehow, to get even more crooked. Maybe a bit worried.

"We can take it easy too," he noted. "Dinner, a boat tour or something like that? I'm certain there's an awesome spa there, too, I could treat you to something there?"

He'd have to be pretty picky about whatever package he got for himself, because he would get something for himself too, yes. Maybe just a haircut or something.

After all, it wouldn't do for a Worthington to look like a scruffy hobo.

Warren Worthington, look like a scruffy hobo? Perish the thought!

"Hold on," Karla said, closing her eyes and grinning. "I am picturing you getting a mani-pedi and it's delightful. I think your toenails are a lovely shade of gold."

Laughing again, she reopened her eyes. "A boat tour sounds really nice, though. I don't think I'll ever get enough of watching sunsets over the water."

Sunrises should probably be included in there, too, but she'd have to be up for that.

There was nothing saying that she couldn't be. Warren happened to be very talented at operating phones, for those early morning wake-up calls.

There would likely be a large amount of coffee involved, however.

"I'm willing to bet that a Hawaiian sunset, in good company, would be difficult to beat."

As long as he didn't expect her to be coherent until the first carafe was empty, it was possible.

"From what I've heard, almost anything we do on the islands will be hard to beat," Karla pointed out. "Though, I'll admit to a preference for good company, no matter where we are."
