Caritas | Wednesday

So, it was Nathan's last shift (that he knew of, at least) at the bar. It was his last shift at a job he'd actually liked more often than not so he was feeling a little verklempt. When Tino offered to hug him, Nathan made to accept that hug before veering off and smacking the back of Tino's head. There were no weepy hugs happening here. Not tonight. Tonight, he planned on having an enjoyable last shift. A handwritten sign ended up out front of Caritas:

It's my last fucking day at work! Come help me celebrate!
Alcohol is free (unless I decide otherwise and I have that right) and any girl that flashes me might get extra special attention.
Lap dances from Tino sold separately. Lap dances from me? We'll talk.

That done, Nathan was back behind the bar, drinking a glass of his favorite whiskey and enjoying himself on a job well done.

"...Free?"

Rude had a feeling this was going to be a beautiful night.

Jono was leaving tomorrow. As much as that was a horrible thing to contemplate, Karla wasn't about to let him go without one last night out, drinking his favorite chewy beers or whatever else he wanted. Part of her was hoping that maybe he'd get so second-hand drunk he'd put off the goodbye for another few day. The other parts just hoped that this would be a suitable way to say goodbye to a dear friend of hers.

Not that she was going to allow any signs of sadness to show through.

"Did you see that sign?" Karla asked, dragging Jono into Caritas. "You can get a goodbye lapdance!"
furnaceface: (Eyeroll)

//Just what I always wanted,// Jono intoned dryly as he tripped along after her. //A lapdance. From Tino.//

No. No he did not.

//I hear he's got wandering hands, you know. I think I'll pass.//

"Your psychic voice says no, but my sense of mischief says 'maybe,'" Karla threatened. "How will you know I'm missing you if you don't have a memory like this to look back on as a goodbye?"

//I suspect that a memory like that would be far more effective in reminding me just how badly you wanted me gone,// Jono countered, crossing his arms over his chest and looking about as stubborn as he could manage.

Karla pouted at him. "How could you say that?" she asked, trying to sound closer to 'hurt' than 'about to laugh.' "I bring you out for a night of chewy beers and high-end entertainment and you accuse me of trying to get rid of you! Jono, I'm both hurt and shocked."

Really. Look into those big blue eyes, Jono, and say you don't trust Karla's motives.
furnaceface: (Sideways look)

... Yes, Jono trusted Karla about as far as he could throw her.

Which wasn't very far. Honest.

//By high-end entertainment, I was assuming you were referring to th'zombies,// he pointed out, nodding toward them. And not at all jealous that a bunch of dead guys were going farther in their musical career than he ever would, damn them all. //Not to th'possibility of Tino, gyrating terrifyingly close to my crotch.//

The lack of trust hurt, Jono. Hurt like an elbow to the eye from an ill-conceived lap dance maneuver.

"Don't you want to help him start on his journey towards his dreams and personal fulfillment?" Karla asked. "Also what beers--ahem, I'm sorry. What lagers should we start with this evening?"
furnaceface: (Very disappointed in you)

//Carling,// Jono decided, after a moment's thought, refusing, thus far, to take a seat.

Lap dances worked better when there was sitting involved, was the thing.

//And I imagine Tino can start himself down that path towards personal fulfillment without making use of my lap to get him there. But yer more than welcome to get a dance for yerself. I won't tell anyone.//

"But, Jono, I'm not leaving!" Karla protested, having no problems with taking a seat at the bar. "I don't need a goodbye lap dance to send me on my way."

"Two Carlings, please," she called. One for her to drink and another for Jono to hold.
furnaceface: (Told you so)

See, that was what Jono liked about Karla. She was thoughtful.

... If insane.

//Think of it as a shared experience, luv. If you can actually get me sitting down in th'first place, that is.//

It would take quite a few Carlings to get Jono drunk enough to do that much, yes.

They had time! Her movie date with the boyos had ended and she didn't have anywhere to be until tomorrow. If it took quite a few Carlings to get Jono drunk enough to get a lapdance from Tino, Karla was willing to put in the time and money to get him there.

Unless she got impatient and decided to switch to something harder instead. That was always a possibility.

"Oh, don't worry about sharing with me," she assured Jono quickly. "I already get to chew your beer for you. This is an experience I'm happy to let you enjoy all on your own!"
furnaceface: (Serious)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-05-05 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
At least putting in the money to get him that drunk shouldn't be difficult, considering the special for the evening and all.

//And you somehow figure that I'll actually enjoy it, Karla?//

Dry. Jono's voice was dry enough to leave a cactus parched.

Whereas Karla's expression was innocent enough to match an angel's.

"We'll never know unless you try," she decided. "Or have you had lapdances before?"

Psst. Jono. That question is a trap.
furnaceface: (Very disappointed in you)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-05-05 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Trap or not, Jono was game to traipse right into it. Just this once. Because he was leaving tomorrow, and damn it, he was going to miss stepping right into these things.

//I have,// he replied, raising an eyebrow. //From gels, Karla. I'm not generally th'sort to let blokes crawl around in my lap.//

Of course if Angelo wanted to...

...

Er.

"Oh really?" Karla asked, pale blonde eyebrow racing up to her hairline. "But it's perfectly okay to let strange females crawl about there? That's an interesting double standard."
furnaceface: (Know It All)

Re: The Bar [Caritas 05/04]

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-05-05 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
//It isn't a double-standard,// Jono intoned, going from eyebrow raising to eye-rolling all over again. //For two reasons. Reason one, I'm straight, not hypocritical. And reason two, th'ones that I've had, when I wasn't single, were always from my girlfriends.//

... And Jean. That one time. Alongside Didi.

//And because Tino is neither female nor Raven, I believe I'm well within my rights to politely turn him down.//

Karla tossed a balled up napkin at Jono's head. Bringing up Raven was completely unfair. She would yell at him for it--

--if she didn't already have a counter argument in mind.

"You being straight is the only reason I would ever endorse this," she announced loftily. "You are straight. Tino is male. Ergo, this lapdance cannot in any way be considered enticing, titillating, or sexually arousing. Fair game!"

Funny how this had gone from being an idle joke to something she was legitimately arguing for. How did that--oh, right. Karla was contrary.
