Long-Term Finance Class [Community Center, Thursday evening]

Eric and Jack were back in front of the classroom again, and laptops had been placed on each person's desk. "Tonight we will work with a simulation that will let you experience the importance of making proper financial decisions without risking any real money," Eric said.

Via being stranded on a weird planet full of slime. Eric thought he was amusing. "Please run through the simulation and then tell us how much money you managed to save up by July. Could you afford your return ticket home?"

Eric had been able to, easily. Jack...not so much. "What investments did you make? Did you choose to eat less food, commute? Skip vacations?" He waved his hand. "And yes, before anyone complains, the simulation doesn't make allowance for enhanced abilities to glamour people into doing what you want or the money you'd save if don't have to eat food."

He was thinking of writing an email.

"Sucking the life-force from people?" Eric nodded. "I have a few theories on what she might be."

"Something like sex energy?" Mitchell shrugged. "It sounds like something from myth."

Eric shrugged. "I dealt with a maenad last fall. Myths aren't always not real."

"I'm not saying they aren't," Mitchell said. "Being a vampire sort of makes it hard to."

He reached into his jacket for a cigarette. "She kills ordinary humans when she does it," he said, "But not vampires. So... I was hoping you might-- know someone who might help her out."

Ahem.

"Have sex for great justice?" Eric replied, arching his eyebrows. "Oh, what a terrible proposition."

"She... may... have asked me," Mitchell said, and rubbed the back of his neck, "But I think Lucy would disagree."

Eric smirked at him. "You have a Lucy?"

"Yeah, I have a Lucy," Mitchell said, sighing. "So I can't feed the succubus, or whatever she is."

"Pretty sure she's a succubus," Eric agreed, nodding. "Lucy has a firm 'no succubus' policy?"

"She's human. I think she frowns on me fucking around, period," Mitchell said, lighting his cigarette.

Eric looked a little amused. "And how long have you had a Lucy?"

"...A little over a month," Mitchell said, taking a drag off his cigarette. "She's lovely."

"Does she know what actually happened to the Chief Constable?" Eric asked.

He shot Eric a long look.

"You have to appreciate a woman who still wants to date you after you show up at her doorstep covered in blood," he said, finally. "Not my finest moment."

It was possible that Eric knew the wrong sorts of human women: Sookie and Jaina wouldn't have blinked twice to see him covered in blood.

"She wasn't overcome with desire?"

Thank you, Eric. That's more a you thing.

Brief pause.

"Well, we did wind up-- you know."

This was kind of a ridiculous time to get bashful about that kind of thing.

"Having sex in the hallway?" Eric extrapolated.
