Mystery Sign Theatre 3000, Sunday

The NOW SHOWING sign said GOODBYE, KATE, which hadn't actually been Mitchell's idea; he'd shown up in the morning to find it already hanging there. Apparently it could be blamed squarely on Box Office Guy, but Mitchell chose not to question him about it.

He did order them about to set up the drinks in a slightly more party-like configuration, put out some bowls of nachos, and promised the staff they'd shut down early to make it a proper party. Sort of.

Incidentally, Mitchell was also heavily repressing the fact that she was leaving. He did things his way, okay?

"He does, but I'm not joking about the blubbery," Mitchell said, rooting around the concessions for something else to drink. "It's probably coming out on all ends."

"That sounded vaguely gross," Kate saw fit to inform him, raising an eyebrow. "It almost killed my urge to say I'd be hurt if no one was blubbery."

"If it wasn't gross, I wouldn't have to warn you," he said. "Coke or a Sprite?"

"Coke," she replied. "If there's cherry, I'll take that. And won't even complain about a lack of offerings of booze."

"It's not my fault you're American," Mitchell replied, grabbing a Cherry Coke and tossing it her way. "Not until you're 21."

"My drunken girlkissy at the last party thrown in my honor begs to differ," Kate retorted as she caught her new drink, then opened it. "21, pfft."

"But I'm an actual adult. I'm supposed to be--" He popped open a Coke, "...a role model."

"I'm trying," Mitchell protested. "Not giving alcohol to minors is a big thing."

"Pfft," Kate repeated, maturely. "You need to find other people to try that at."

"If you find some, send 'em my way," Mitchell suggested. "I can use another employee now that you're running away."

"Well, if he wasn't already working two jobs as it is," she mused, after a sip of Coke, "I would totally recommend my boyfriend, just to, y'know, keep it in the extended family so to speak."

"A third job is good for the soul," Mitchell said, solemnly. "He looks like a good workhorse."

"I think he's kind of overly responsible." Which was one of those things that made it so surprising they were together, really. "You should grab him while you can."
