Mystery Sign Theatre 3000, Sunday

The NOW SHOWING sign said GOODBYE, KATE, which hadn't actually been Mitchell's idea; he'd shown up in the morning to find it already hanging there. Apparently it could be blamed squarely on Box Office Guy, but Mitchell chose not to question him about it.

He did order them about to set up the drinks in a slightly more party-like configuration, put out some bowls of nachos, and promised the staff they'd shut down early to make it a proper party. Sort of.

Incidentally, Mitchell was also heavily repressing the fact that she was leaving. He did things his way, okay?

"...The movies?" he tried. "Okay, okay, no, I'm here because my roommate," and there came the pout again, "is leaving me, but I'm not about to let her go without all the proper celebration and pomp and circumstance and whatever that she deserves."

"Excellent answer, Bobby." If he couldn't tell by the grin he was getting right now. It was only mildly smug, too. "I'm awesome, and I'm sorry you're gonna have to be deprived of my awesome."

"I'll just have to make the most of it when you come back to visit," he gave her a stern look. "You'd better come visit."

Kate snorted and rolled her eyes. "I have a boyfriend who's gonna still be living here," she pointed out. "I'll visit, don't worry."

"Good, good," Bobby nodded approvingly. "And hey, I don't know if you'll need it, but-" he pulled out a business card with Xavier Institute of Higher Learning embossed on the front, along with an address. "It's a school, technically, but... if you ever need a place to stay, just tell 'em you're a friend of mine."

Kate took the card, and then took a moment to look it over before smiling up at him. "Thanks, Bobby," she said, sincerely. "I really appreciate it."

She figured she was never going to have too many places to run away to if things got to be too much. She didn't know how much she'd need them (in fact, she hoped she wouldn't) but they made for a nice safety net, all the same.

"Yeah, well, you're welcome," Bobby said, hesitating just briefly before going in for a hug. "Least I could do in return for occasionally turning our room into a deep freeze."

"Oh, Bobby," she sighed, returning that hug. "I've had people do way worse things to me, trsut me. That was nothing."
