Caritas, Monday

When Jake came in to Caritas that evening, he was greeted by... a construction paper rocket ship nearly hitting him in the eye.

"Tino! Mind my face would you? What are you even doing?"

Tino just held up the bicycle pump attached to a piece of PVC piping.

A few minutes later, Jake could be found busily working on constructing his own paper rocket. Oh, and he'd serve drinks if people asked. Probably.

Audrey had no idea how it had taken two weeks for her to make it here, but it had. And for a moment when she saw what was going on at the bar, she wondered if she might not have been better off waiting another week.

"Arts and crafts time?" she asked.

"Audrey Parker," she said with the tiniest bit of a smile. "What are you making, anyway?"

"I was, so thank you for that," said Audrey. "But now I have to wonder why you're making a rocket."

Audrey nodded seriously. "Makes sense." She didn't really think that, no. "Is it too much of a distraction for me to ask for a drink?"

"Dirty martini, three olives," she said, but she was back to looking at the rocket again. And here she never would have even thought to make one of those. Ever.

There was a really, really brief pause.

"Why not," she decided. "If you get an opportunity to make a rocket, it'd be dumb to pass it up."

Oh, Audrey would probably find a way to make a paper one handy.

"So is this your first rocket, Jake?" she asked, taking some paper to start.

"Which I don't," she said. "In which case, looks like you're doing pretty well for a first-timer."

Audrey was not.

"Aha," she said. "I'm thinking I should not quit my day job for a life of paper rocket-building."

"FBI," she said, not bothering with the badge even if she had it on her. It was late, she had a drink, she could skip that for the moment. "I'm working out of the trooper station, which still feels weird to say."

"You have to peg a lot of law enforcement types?" she asked, sipping her drink.

asuahdhasd HAHAHA. It was really not meant that way, no.

"Where was this?" she asked, interested.

Audrey glanced at the top of his head. "I'm sure you pulled it off, though." She had no idea.
