Jonothon had managed to get his hands on coffee, this morning. Instant coffee, granted, that he'd thrown together while trying to juggle breakfast (cereal, quick and easy) and getting everything in order for ... whatever the hell these auditions were going to be like, considering the state of the weekend. He hadn't actually gotten around to getting any of it as far as his mouth, yet, but he suspected that he'd made the coffee strong enough to sit up and bark, and if that didn't floor him, it would probably be a good thing.

In the window of the Boards, he'd hung a sign:

Give the rest of the island a taste of your winter traditions from home!

And, hell, he'd even managed to get someone at Pizza Planet to answer the phone who was over the age of ten, so there was pizza set out on tables on one side of the lobby area. Tables which he'd laid tarp down under, because there was no way in hell he was going to clean those carpets already. The place had just finished renovations, after all.

Aw, he hadn't even really been that sarcastic. But then, his teasing-cute-little-kids tone of voice wasn't all that different from most of his other full-of-shit tones, so...

"Pretty sad, true. Does he get to play reindeer games with all of the other reindeer, now?

"Uh-huh, they play chase and tag and everything now," Juliet informed him. "He even has a best friend."

"He does? Well, I certainly didn't know about that part," Jono shared. "What's his best friend like, Sunshine?"

This was kind of like a learning experience for Jono, really. Artie and Leech had been fairly young, too, back when he'd read comic books for them at Emma's Academy, but they'd been... well, they'd been mutant children who wanted to be superheroes. Normal kids were a completely different story.

"Her name is Olive and she's really a dog but she wanted to be a reindeer so bad that Santa let her help and she's on TV now just like Rudolph," Juliet explained. "She's really brave, like Rudolph."

Olive. Olive, the other reindeer. Who was apparently a dog. Jono actually had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing at that.

"Clearly I don't watch nearly enough television," he decided. "Thank you, Juliet. That was a wonderful story."

Juliet grinned. "So I can be in the show?"

"Absolutely, Sunshine." Jono offered her a little smile. "I'm going to give you a phone call in a couple of days, asking you to come back to tell me another story, and then you'll have a part in the show. How does that sound?"

He figured, whoever this Juliet girl was, she'd probably appreciate a second chance to prove herself in front of the directors. Possibly while not wearing a tutu, with her face smeared in juice.

"Like lots and lots of fun," Juliet grinned. "I'm going to be an actress when I get big. This is practice."

"Well, I hope it turns out to be excellent practise for you, luv." He was doing that thing where he looked like he was barely refraining from going awwwww again. "Thank you very much for auditioning, Juliet."
