So certain other bartenders may have been getting all fancy with their drink specials, but Jake... well, let's just say the patrons of Caritas were lucky Jake remembered alcohol came in varieties besides "beer" and "rum". Which totally explained the shot-rainbow he had lined up on the bar today.

Look, he had to test this stuff for quality every so often. It was part of his job. Really.

Unfortunately I think I've exhausted my repertoire of drinking songs.

Britta was really about ready to hightail it on another hitch-hiking jaunt to another city, but she figured she should give the local dives a look first. She tried to look casual as she strode into Caritas, scoping the place out, pausing for a moment of confusion at the band, and then decided she wasn't even going to ask as she located the bar and slid easily onto a stool.

Her fake ID was on the ready, but, of course, she was going to play it like she wasn't used to getting carded at all. Being too ready with it was just suspicious.

"Hey, can I, uh, get a beer?" she asked, careful to rein in any nervousness or hopefulness.

Jake raised an eyebrow at her. "Any particular kind of beer there, luh?" They had... a few. Dozen, that was. Including some that weren't found on this planet normally.

Britta's head went through a quick list of possibilities, wondering which one was less obvious, before she just shrugged and suggested, "Surprise me?"

...Right. Dead Frog (http://www.deadfrogbrewery.com/beer_honeybrown.php) it was, then.

"There ya go. One surprise beer," he made as if to slide it across the bar towards her, but then stopped. "Can I see your ID?"

...No, Caritas didn't have a drinking age. Jake just enjoyed messing with people.

Britta was slightly distracted by the strange sense of foreshadowing that crept over her when the beer was passed over.

"Hm? Oh, right, yeah, sure," she said, shifting so she could pull the fake out of her jacket pocket. She held it over with a slight laugh. "Boy, feels nice to get asked that every once in a while, you know?"

"Uh huh," Jake said dryly, looking said ID over. "Looks fake," he commented, raising an eyebrow at her. In truth, he really had no idea, but she definitely didn't look twenty-one. Or even nineteen.

Britta snorted. "Most of the real ones actually do," she says. "You're just trying to make me nervous, which won't work, because, of course, I have nothing to hide."

She held up her hands for a moment to prove her innocence before reaching for the beer and giving it a sip.

"Of course," Jake echoed. "You got a bridge to sell me too?"

So, maybe there wasn't to be any bullshitting the bartender, but, hey, she had her beer and she was sipping it and no one was kicking her out, so she figured that was a good sign all the same.

"Sure, it's a really nice one just outside of here, actually. Connects this island to the mainland. Think you'd be interested?"

"Unfortunately I've hit my bridge-buying budget for the month," Jake told her, affecting an apologetic look. "Too bad, really."

"Well, maybe next month," Britta offered, with another sip of her beer and a faint feeling of brief contentment. She settled her hands in her lap, shrugged her shoulders a little, and took the place in. "Can't imagine a place like this gets very busy on a Monday night," she mused aloud.

"Not generally, no," Jake admitted. "There's no slumber parties at any rate." Said with an air of derision even though he'd contemplated going to said party ~~but ended up not because the player was made of failsauce~~.

It was the emphasis that did it, really. Britta lifted an eyebrow. "Not a fan?" she asked.

So instead I'll ramble on.

I wanna know if I can be in the Thieves Guild and still get Mjoll as a follower.

You can definitely get Mjoll as a follower when you're in the Thieves Guild (cuz I got her and I'm the leader of the Thieves Guild). MJOLL FORGETS EASILY APPARENTLY.
