The Waters Between Fandom And IKEA, Wednesday Afternoon
"Splish, splash, I was takin' a baaaa-ath--" sang the 5,000th krill, because that was the only effing song they knew, and Sunshine rolled her giant yellow eye, then devoured it and 4,999 of its brethren, following that up with a sad little belch. (Well, little for a giant squid, which meant that the bubbly tsunami briefly covered the empty causeway in saltwater and swallowed half of Fandom's beachfront, but died away before it could do any real damage.)
It was one of Those Days. When the melancholy just boiled up from the deeps like a kraken released on the princess of her soul, and even the disposition that usually matched Sunshine's cheerful name couldn't withstand the truth: Fandom didn't love her like she loved Fandom.
And then came the violins.
One of Those Days.
I lie below, you float above
With the pretty white walls that I've been dreaming of
And I'd like to climb your turrets,
Getting dizzy from the height,
Getting close enough to touch you
Getting brave enough to take you into my arms
And bring you down to be with me...
But Fandom had never loved her like she loved Fandom, and now -- and tentacle to Cthulu, Sunshine had no problems with the Norse, they'd always built the tastiest ships, but -- now there was IKEA, and even if she'd ever stood a chance of competing with that, she couldn't even try anymore. There was a baby, and Sunshine was no homewrecker.
Well, unless by that you meant someone who destroyed actual houses, in which case okay, yes.
But I can't do that thing anymore
I can't be the thing I was before
Maybe I am better off alone
Because I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything...
Fandom was always nice to her when it wasn't possessed or exploding, but sometimes that made it even worse. Made her feel pathetic and lonely, especially with Mummy gone for so long, and Sunshine couldn't even grab any of the little pink land creatures to drag down below for company, not if she wanted Fandom to like her even one little, tiny bit.
My body's strong, my will is weak
I got pretty nice arms, but I hate my beak...
Maybe Fandom wouldn't notice if she just took one of the humans? As long as it wasn't, like Poseidon's kid or anything... Because the other options were what, the furry fish? The dolphins?
As if just thinking of them was a siren call, a school of dorsal fins broke the surface around her, their chorus of bubbles and eeeeeeeeee's joining her voice as they dived in and out between her waving tentacles.
The dolphins are all phonies.
They seem nice enough at first
But they pretend to be your friend
Until they see you at your worst and then they leave you...
Without a word, they swam away, and Sunshine gave in to the pathetitude, shedding a single giant emo tear... that no one noticed, what with her floating in the ocean and all.
Stretching out one mighty tentacle, she wrapped it around Fandom's highest tower. Just one little hug couldn't hurt, could it?
CRU--UNCH.
The rain-gutter crumbled under her suckers, falling to the sand and rocks below and narrowly missing the small group of teal deer who'd gathered on the shore.
And everything I want I take
And everything I love I break...
Yanking her tentacle back, Sunshine blooped out a SORRY to both the island and the deer, before turning away to dive for the depths in embarrassment.
As if she could get away. BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP rose up from the undersea, ringing into song when it hit the air.
Every night I lie awake...
Did the sky rain pie? Did the gremlins frown?
Does it matter that much when you're ten miles down?
In the light that filters down
Into my giant yellow eye
I can see your sparkling towers
Stretching white against the sky and I forgive them
I forgive and I let go.
'Cause I can't do that thing anymore,
I can't be the thing I was before.
Maybe I am better off alone
Because I crush everything,
And I crush everything,
And I crush everything.........
Bloop.
Where was an ice-cream delivery ship to swallow when you needed one?

Scully had been out on her morning run and had to just ... stop at this.
Because. Really. ... poor sea monster.
