Caritas- Saturday

Did you get to spend your Saturday night in the office of the bar you managed, trying to put out little paperwork-type fires (not literally) so you didn't have to do it tomorrow? No? Then you were having a better night than Kitty.

Tino, however, was in a much better mood, so it was a good thing he was the only one behind the bar tonight.

Picking a song at random had been a bad idea. Did the zombies have a sense of humor, or was Fandom just being mean? Either way, the chosen song was "The Bad Touch."

Raven was having a little trouble keeping her balance, but she gamely sang the lyrics that appeared on the karaoke screen as the zombies began to play. "Sweat, baby, sweat, baby, sex is a Texas drought...Cassidy, I am not certain we should be singing this song." She wasn't too far gone to blush.

Cassidy gamely sang the next line happily holding some kind of jello shot in her left hand.

"Me and you do the kind of stuff that only Prince would sing about..." Cassidy frowned. "Raven, which Prince is singing this? I've never heard one do it."

"I know Prince Arthur, but I do not think I have ever heard him sing," Raven said, a trifle perplexed. "And I do not know what he would sing about if he did. Merlin, perhaps?" No, Raven.

"So put your hands down my pants and I will bet you will feel nuts" -- yes, she eliminated the contractions even when singing. "But I do not wear pants," she said.

"But he likes Merlin, so maybe that's why he would sing?"

She took the next line. "Yes I'm Siskel, yes I'm Ebert and you're getting two thumbs up... But I can only lift one thumb because I do not want to drop my jello."

She was learning priorities.

Somewhere in Camelot Arthur was probably having the urge to glare in the direction of Fandom.

"You have had enough of two-hand touch you want it rough you are out of bounds." They were singing about sporting events, weren't they?

Raven suddenly had the urge to call Bobby to repay him for past drunken voicemails. She quickly dialed his number, and as his voicemail picked up, she held the phone between her and Cassidy so they could sing the next line together. "I want you smothered want you covered like my Waffle House hashbrowns!"

It was Cassidy's turn and after Raven had them sing for Bobby, well, Cassidy figured they should sing for Shira (http://snarkyhealer.livejournal.com/476.html?thread=2524#t2524).

"Come quicker than FedEx never reach an apex just like Coca-Cola stock you are inclined.... Shira, who is FedEx?"

"Whomever they are, they arrive very quickly, which the song seems to indicate is a good quality," Raven said. Oh wait, on to the next line!

"To make me rise an hour early just like Daylight Savings Time. Oh, that is when the clocks change, is it not?"

Cassidy nodded. "Oh yes, I think I remember that happening."

She looked at the next line and sang it even as she was forming a question in her mind.

"Do it now, You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals... What exactly are they doing?"

"So let us do it like they do on the Discovery Channel.... I am not certain," Raven said. "Perhaps we should call someone else to ask."

Poor Tara.

"Yes, our friends know things," Cassidy agreed.

"Love the kind you clean up with a mop and bucket... Ew? That sounds unpleasant." Cassidy looked at the next line. "Like the lost catacombs of Egypt only God knows where we stuck it... Oh! Something is lost and we need to find it! I know who can help us with that!"

"Hieroglyphics? Let me be Pacific I wanna be down in your South Seas...oh, we are going sailing! We should invite Karla. I know she likes to sail with Warren."

And thus another phone call was made.

It was probably time to mention that Cassidy ordered more of the rainbow since they were too busy singing to drink tea.

"But I got this notion that the motion of your ocean means "Small Craft Advisory"... You know, this line doesn't make any sense. I think we need Karla to explain this one, too."

Especially if it was Craft related.

"So if I capsize on your thighs" -- well, she'd already asked Karla about that one when she'd read ahead in the lyrics -- "high tide, B-5 you sunk my battleship...I have a battleship? Who would have sunk it? That is not nice."

She was trying to decide who to call when Cassidy took her phone instead and dialed the first number on speeddial. Raven moved on to the next line. "Please turn me on I am Mister Coffee with an automatic drip? What does that mean?"

"I didn't know that there was someone here named Mr. Coffee." Cassidy sang the next line of lyrics.

So show me yours I'll show you mine "Tool Time" you'll Lovett just like Lyle... Is that a fighting reference? I bet I know who can answer that question!"

Oooh, floating jello shots were awesome!

Raven got her phone back from Cassidy and hit redial. Then she moved on to the rest of the song. "And then we will do it doggy style so we can both watch ~~meta for~~X-Files."

For some reason that made her decide to call Kenzi. "Kenzi! We are having jello shots! But they are not as good as yours. I just thought you should know. Bye!" Because it was important.

Cassidy sang the chorus again with Raven, and then realized something important.

"Raven, we're out of song."

"We are!" Raven said, dismayed.

And then her phone rang with Jono calling back, and she got a suggestion from him. "Benny and the Jets!" she said. "Do the zombies know that?"

And they'd thought "Bad Touch" made no sense.

The Zombies knew it and they were trying very hard not to laugh at the girls.

Cassidy took a green jello shot from one of the ones she was floating around the stage and the girls and then she started to sing.

Hey kids, shake it loose together ... The spotlight's hitting something..." She shook her head. "Hitting isn't very nice."

Raven grabbed a yellow one. Mmmm, lemon.

"That has been known to change the weather, we will kill the fatted calf tonight...oh, no, I do not eat meat. I do not want to kill a calf." Do not make Raven sad!

"No. No killing. Killing is very bad. We are not dealing with bad people tonight." She shook her head and then sang the next line. "So stick around you're gonna hear electric music... What kind of music is electric?"

"Like Jono's Stratocaster guitar!" Raven said. "It is plugged in and it is electric. He plays it very well"

On with the song. "Solid walls of sound...say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet...wait, who are Candy and Ronnie? Who are they supposed to have seen?"

Cassidy looked concerned. "Are they in trouble? Do they need help?"

That would be when Tino sent a green shot to her since he had realized Cassidy liked green -- and that she was easily distracted.

"Oh! That's my line. But they're so spaced out, Bennie and the Jets, oh but they're weird and they're wonderful. Is Bennie the friend of Candy and Ronnie?" She paused and then opened her phone. "I bet Loki (http://abitlowkey.livejournal.com/576.html?thread=61760#t61760) would know!"

Raven, meanwhile, was slurping down more purple ones.

"Oh Bennie she is really keen, she has got electric boots, a mohair suit...electric music I can understand, but electric boots? Do they glow?"

This song was so confusing!

"What in the Darkness' name is mohair? Is Jono still there? Maybe we should ask him."

Raven really had no idea. Mohair? What?

"You know I read it in a magazine, bee, bee, bee, Bennie and the jets." Yes, she pronounced the "B" "bee."

This song really was more confusing than the first one.

"Hey kids, plug into the faithless maybe they're blinded." Cassidy looked at Raven. "If they're blinded, you can heal them, right? Or Karla or Shira can?"

"I would certainly try, though if it was an old injury and had healed naturally, I do not know if I would be able," Raven said.

"But Bennie makes them ageless, we shall survive, let us take ourselves along...oh, Bennie is immortal?" At least he wasn't covered in hashbrowns.

"If he is immortal, then he should be able to find his friends, Ronnie and Candy."

This logic really did make some kind of sense.

"Where we fight our parents out in the streets to find who's right and who's wrong... Wouldn't we get into trouble for fighting in the streets unless we were invaded."

After ~~presumably~~ being shooed away from the Devil's Nest due to being underaged, Raven tried again for Caritas, and this time she was successful. "There!" she said triumphantly to Cassidy. "I do not know what happened the first time, but this time we are at Caritas."

Jello shots would be theirs. Oh yes.

"Yay!" Cassidy said cheerfully as she looked around. "There are lights here, too."

She looked around, never having been in Caritas before. "Oh, this place is very nice. Is this where we get a rainbow?"

That would be when she noticed the band.

"Music, Raven!"

"We would like a rainbow of jello shots," Raven said solemnly to Tino. "One of each color for each of us, please." See, moderation!

She glanced over at the zombie band. "Oh yes, they do karaoke here," she said. "I have never sung here, however." Except once while gremlin bit.

She nodded in agreement. "Yes, please, sir. We would like a complete rainbow" Because it was always extra helpful to treat someone with respect when asking for anything.

"Oh! We should sing after the rainbow, then."

"I like to sing," Raven said as Tino served them up an R in ROY G. BIV. "I do not know what songs the zombies know but I suppose we could simply pick one of the songs available."

She handed Cassidy one of the pair of shots and said, "You must slurp them down. Sometimes they stick and you must work them loose with your tongue. I think this is strawberry. Or cherry."

She looked down at the shot and then nodded. "So if they won't come out, then I need to work them free with my tongue."

This sounded very reasonable to her.

Raven clinked her shotglass against Cassidy's. "To rainbows," she said, tilting her head back to slurp down the shot. Mmm, jello.

"To rainbows," she agreed. She slurped down the shot like Raven did.

"Oh that's good!"

Cassidy, meet jello shots.

And a rainbow later...
