Community Center, Friday Evening

When it came to Fandom, the typical alumni mixer type events tended to include a few key elements: food, drinks, and dancing.

Tonight? Not so much. Well, there was still the food and drinks, and probably nobody would actually stop you if you decided to go ahead and get jiggy with it, but the setup didn't exactly lend itself to dancing.

The setup in question? Well, the room was made to look as if a giant slumber party were taking place. There were ample blankets and pillows, and a big movie screen set up on one side of the room in order to play appropriately-themed movies.

Jaina hadn't known she would be able to come back until earlier today. Yesterday, her time, she guessed. Aaaaaand was this what a slumber party looked like? She was somehow new to this.

Okay, Angela wasn't completely unused to slumber parties? But the last one had been that one Karla threw with the glitter, and it hadn't been what she'd been expecting from tonight.

She wasn't one to complain. There were drinks, there were people, there were pillows... Which might come in handy if jetlag kicked in. She could work with this.

Romeo was finally over his cold, and it was his first weekend free of school in months. Spending it in Fandom seemed like the right thing to do.

He didn't plan on sleeping in the community center, but that wasn't going to stop him from grabbing some snacks and claiming a convenient space to sprawl on the floor.

"Hello! How is one of my favorite ex-wives?" Romeo asked lightly, when he spotted Angela (and after a quick check to make sure Hannibal wasn't listening). "It's been ages."

Tahiri was kind of amazed she'd actually managed to get time off for this, but she had, and she'd take it, no arguments.

. . . a slumber party?

She wasn't even trying to hide a little grin, even though she was slightly worried about running into a certain tiny best friend of hers.

"You made it," Tahiri exclaimed happily, hurrying over Jaina's way. "We both did."

It had been a really long time for Jaina since she'd seen this Tahiri, so hopefully she didn't mind a hug. Because of course she shouldn't be used to those or anything. "I wasn't sure you'd be here," she said, smiling.

"I wasn't either," Tahiri admitted, and her hugging back was totally a sign of her minding, really. "But the opportunity came up, so I took it. I was hoping I'd get a chance to see you."

"Lucky you," she said, still grinning when she pulled back. "How are you doing?"

Since, you know, there was a certain non-Jaina Solo kid in town and all...

There were a handful of Force presences that Anakin could sense even without trying, and from a long distance away. When two of those were right there on the island? There was absolutely no way he wouldn't have noticed, and he took off like a blaster bolt for the community center.

Spotting a very familiar head of blonde hair and bare feet, he made his way over, knowing he couldn't sneak up on her -- she could sense him as easily as he could her -- but trying anyway.

"Sithspawn," Anakin blurted out as soon as he got close enough. "When did you get so tall?"

"Okay so far," Tahiri assured her, which was easy for her to say since she hadn't run into the other Solo kid yet.

But wow, could she ever sense his presence in the Force, which was familiar and yet unfamiliar enough by now that anyone who knew her well enough would be able to tell she was just a touch off-kilter.

"Glad to have a break, mostly. I'm never giving you a hard time about actually taking one again."

"Good. Especially since I seem to be better at that than you lately..." she teased, sending just a little bit of reassurance her way.

Yeah, don't get used to that good-at-taking-a-break thing. It wouldn't last long.

"Anakin."

Tahiri had taken care to hide the scars on her forehead before she arrived, and she thought she'd been prepared for this, but --

Force, he was so young, she realized when she turned to look at him. She'd almost forgotten he'd ever been that little, before that growth spurt he'd gone on just before Myrkr.

She choked back a strangled little laugh, drew on the Force to calm herself, and smiled instead.

"Bet you don't remember what it was like to see eye-to-eye with me, do you?" she asked. "Of course, you hardly ever call when you're not in the same place I am, either."

At fourteen, that was the sort of thing she'd have kicked him for after saying it.

Tahiri noticed, and gave her an appreciative smile for it.

"How did that happen, anyhow? It's really weird. Are you sure you're really you?"

"I'm sure. I'm just... trying more," she decided. "Also being on a faster timeline means I still only take a break every several months or so, barring any life or death situations in Fandom." You know how it is.

Tahiri shut down her emotions as best she could, but hugged him back.

"Sometimes we do. You just never manage to make that last before you do something dumb," she told him.

Hey, now, don't get crazy there. "Maybe a little," she said, almost grudgingly, because old habits died really, really hard. "Besides, I never know when things are going to get crazy again. Might as well take advantage of it while I can, right?"

It had been a while since Naomi had actually been to a slumber party but she wasn't going to complain, especially since she had the chance to visit Fandom for the weekend.

"Hey," Anakin complained, frowning at her. Not that he could really argue. She had a point.
