The Preserve, Saturday Evening

Tara had never been a pony before, and -- after the awkward oh-god-how-do-I-walk phase -- she actually found herself enjoying it.

She got wings. Wings, and a horn, and a pretty purple tail. Tara made for one self-satisfied pony.

She'd spent a lot of the day just flying along the island's coastline, but as dusk grew she centered in on the preserve and found a nice meadow. She meant to just take a rest there, but eventually she began nosing through the grasses to look for any herbs with magical properties. Not that she was exactly in any position to carry them back to the shop now, but it still never hurt to know about new resources.

If once in a while she hovered over the ground a bit more than was strictly necessary -- well, that part was just for fun.

"We could probably cobble something together out of American football gear, or maybe whatever it is they use for hockey," Jono reasoned. "Difficult for them to take a bite out of you if all they get is... goaltender kneepad stuffing..."

Really, the gear required would probably be about as hilarious as the aftermath of the gremlin bites tended to be.

"I know a few geniuses," Ben mused. "Maybe they could work on making this look cool."

Probably not.

"Coat it in some sort of adamantium alloy chainmail mesh, perhaps?"

It would be effective! And probably ridiculously heavy. But effective!

"Sounds heavy," Ben mused. "I can work with that!"

Said the guy who mocked Boba Fett for, okay, yeah, existing, but also for his armor!

[furnaceface]

Please. Gremlin bites were far more serious fare than whatever Boba was trying to guard himself from.

Had to be.

"And the gremlin that manages to bite through that is gutsy enough that he's probably earned it. Especially given how much dental work he'd be in need of directly after."

"This is a really good plan!" Ben decided.

This was also how Jono ended up with a Thor helmet, so.

Jono still treasured that Thor helmet. It had been his first taste of flying!

... Somewhat tackily accessorized flying. Ish. While suspended by his head via funky winged helmet.

"So really, now all you need is to figure out where you're going to get your hands on that much chainmail, that quickly," Jono noted, clearly amused.

"I'll ask Tony," Ben said. "He's got waaaaaaaay too much money."

And clearly would enjoy spending it on Ben or something.

Oh, Tony Stark in miniature. Jono wanted to hate him in light of the mess that his own world's Tony Stark was making of things, but the fact that he was still just a tiny thing made that kind of difficult. He still made a bit of a face, but shook it off a half-second later, replacing it with a smirk.

"Of course he does, mate. He's a Stark."

Which cleared that whole thing right up.

"I think resourcefulness is a basic requirement for being part of the family. They probably sign contracts in their infancy outlining how many patents they have to secure each year in order to retain the family name."

"Wouldn't be surprised that they can write that early," Ben admitted.

[furnaceface]

"I wouldn't be surprised if they were born with power tools in their hands," Jono added, "with the Stark logo printed on them."

A beat.

"But then, in fairness, after Fandom there really isn't much that can surprise me."
