So, drinking with Tony last night probably hadn't been the smartest idea in the world. Now, instead of being plagued by memories, he was plagued by memories and hungover.

He'd gotten mind controlled again. He'd killed people again - children this time, and... last time he'd only been an accessory to Coulson's death. This time, the blood was on his hands, and he couldn't get the image out of his mind. Sure, Tony said none of it would stick and everyone would be fine today, but that didn't change the kind of person Clint had been turned into.

As wrong as it might have seemed, he found himself back on one of the rooftops in town, sitting with his feet dangling over the edge and looking out at the town. The worst part about the past week was how close he'd been to his usual self, and while he wasn't quite ready to practice with his bow, he wasn't about to let this place take the peace of high places away from him. Maybe if he sat here long enough, he'd start to feel better, if he deserved that.

Kitty shook her head. "No, you don't. I wanted you to shoot at me."

How many people were saying that today?

"You still shouldn't have needed to taunt me like you did," Clint argued. "That was a pretty cool trick you pulled off though, disappearing, or whatever it was."

"Phasing. It's not really a trick," Kitty said, taking a seat next to him. "But it comes in handy."

"I can imagine. You must be proud of yourself, for being one of the good guys and all," Clint said. "And being very sneaky about it too."

She shrugged. "It's just what I do. Or used to do, anyway," she corrected. "And I was lucky. If I hadn't kept under the radar I'd have been in detention since November. Good guys and bad guys here wasn't always straightforward."

"Yeah, that's certainly true." Clint got quiet for a moment before asking, "Are you sure you're not mad at me? I mean, I know weird things happen sometimes, but this is the first time I've seen it instead of just hearing about it, and I'm finding it hard to believe that people just move on without getting pissed."

"I'm not mad," she assured him. "You weren't in control of you. I'm just sorry you had to go through that." You know, again.

"I guess I'm getting used to it by now. The third time someone controls me, it should definitely be for something more fun, don't you think?" Clint said, trying for a teasing tone.

"Oh, definitely. You should at least get a vacation or party out of it." Well it was true.

"Yeah, but somehow, I don't see that happening." Clint sighed and shook his head. "I think the worst part about it was that it's happened before. I mean, you get your mind controlled once, that's awful, but hey, you learn from it, right? When it happens a second time... I should have been able to fight it, don't you think?"

"No," Kitty replied. "It's not like it's your fault she whammied you. She did it to a lot of people, including most of the people in charge on the island. Should they have been able to fight it off too?"

"Maybe not, but I've been trained in a lot of different combat situations. I know how to fight normal methods of control, but this stuff has all been way beyond my training," Clint said. "That doesn't make me feel less weak though."

Stop making her want to hug you, Clint.

"Hey, you're not weak," Kitty told him. "It happens to the best of us. And if you want, I'm sure there are psychics or telepaths- please not Emma- that can help build up your resistance."

Making people want to hug him was a natural skill. Feel free to give in, Kitty.

"I was wondering if anyone besides Emma could help. She's kind of... I guess 'intimidating' would be the nicest word I could use," he said. "I don't know if I want anyone messing with my head though, even for good."

"It's just something to think about. And who knows, maybe this means you've officially exceeded some kind of mind control quota and everyone has to leave you alone from now on." And if there wasn't, there had to be someone he could punch out for it.

"That'd be nice, wouldn't it?" Clint said, laughing. "I'll have to ask around. Next time, I might not go up against someone who can dodge my shots."

"I didn't dodge your shots," she said. "Because I'm badass like that."

"Yes, you are completely badass," Clint said. "If I ever need anyone to secretly run a speakeasy, I know exactly who I'm going to."

"You know, I'm almost sorry it's back to normal?" she admitted.

"Well, it's your bar, isn't it?" he said with a shrug. "If you want to make people sneak in through the back door or whatever, you can."

"So I could make people give a password at the back door and let them into the same bar they'd see if they came in the front?" she grinned.

"You could make people give a password to get special drinks?" Clint suggested. "Or just to make people feel special for having the password."

"Okay," she decided. "Tomorrow's my night, you get to set the password."

"Hawkeye," he said without missing a beat, because it seemed funny, to him at least.

"That is so cheating," she laughed. "I'll use it, but it's cheating."
