Kitty (and the totally impractical pants, yes) had been hearing that Daaaa dun. Daaaa dun. Da dundundundundundundundun" sound since she'd come into work early, but it wasn't until she was behind the bar that she spotted it.

The little gremlin band that had set up shop behind the zombies.

Luckily the zombies didn't notice, being zombies, and played on. So hopefully no one minded their music being underscored by something way more ominous.

Seriously, why the cutouts in the pants, Kitty? Why do you think those are a good idea?

Clint's plans for the evening included getting a drink, and maybe finding out what all the creepy gremlin noises were about, if Kitty had any idea. Then, he saw what she was wearing, and all his nice, rational brain activity kind of stopped. "Uh, hi. Good evening." So smooth, he was.

And her day was improved. "Hey," she greeted him with a smile. "What can I do for you?"

"Uh, well." Clint, you were in a bar, that was not a difficult question. "I'll take a beer," he finally said, taking a seat.

"Sure," she said, and handed one over a moment later. "So how are you doing tonight?"

"I'd be better if I hadn't had weird little creatures making creepy noises at me every time I tried to leave my house, but I think I'm doing a lot better now." He took a sip of beer and just couldn't hold back anymore. "Are you aware that your pants are missing some fabric?"

Kitty looked down at her legs. "Are they?" she teased. "They weren't like this when I left my apartment..."

"Are you kidding me? I can tell when people are lying, you know," Clint said. "Did you not think you were attractive enough already?"

She maybe even blushed a little at that. "Would you believe me if I said I just like these?" For some reason.

"Will you hit me if I say I like them too?" Clint replied. "They don't look very comfortable though."

"I'm not gonna hit you," she assured him, smiling. She had no problem hearing that kind of thing from him. "Do I look uncomfortable?"

Sadly, these pants were going to end up as a sort of X-Menning uniform. Seriously.

Well, if she wanted him to take a good look at her, how could he not oblige? "They just seem... you know, tight. But you're also probably not overheated, so I guess that's a fair trade?" he said with a laugh.

"See, it all works out. This is also probably the longest conversation I've ever had about my pants."

That... sounded vaguely wrong when she said it out loud.

"You can't wear something like that in public and not expect people to say something," Clint pointed out. "I mean, unless you wear them around people with better social skills than I have."

"This was practically the uniform at my last job. So usually people either don't say anything, or they just got straight to hitting on me," she said honestly.

Clint regarded Kitty for a moment. "I have to admit, you are wearing more than some people do. And everything important is covered. But I can see why people hit on you, because you do make for a nice sight. This almost balances out me losing my shirt the other week."

"Does it? Which time? When the gym's air conditioning broke or when you decided to go for a swim from the bar?"

You know, when he ended up shirtless and wet and there wasn't really any balancing that out...

"When I decided to go for a swim. The air conditioning was unintentional, I swear," Clint said.

She was not going to mention that she maybe could have fixed it. Ahem.

"Then I have no idea how I'd balance that out completely," she said. It was a happy memory that'd be with her a while.

"I can think of a few things," Clint said with a smirk. "A few potentially inappropriate things, considering how a woman losing her shirt in public is frowned upon."

"Is this where I'm supposed to suggest saving that for private?" she asked.

"Hey, if you want to suggest that, you go right ahead," Clint said, because he wasn't about to let that idea slide off the table completely. "But I should at least buy you a drink before anything like that happens, right? If not some form of food? That seems like the protocol before private toplessness."

"I could go for that." Like, all of it, though she wasn't going to make the vocal promise of private toplessness in case something went wrong or she lost her mind between now and then. "When?"

"When would be good for you?" Clint asked casually. "Managing a bar seems a lot more hectic than managing a gym, I've ended up feeling kind of lazy since I got here."

"Then it's a good thing going out is a step away from laziness," Kitty smiled. "This weekend, maybe? Anywhere but here?"

"This weekend sounds great. We could even go off the island, if you really want to get away from here," Clint said, laughing. "Or would somewhere else down the street be far enough?"

"Down the street's fine if you come up with something good enough to do," she decided.

No pressure.

"...do you like surprises?"

No, he didn't need time to decide on something really good, what on earth would make you think that?

Kitty laughed. "For this, I'm gonna say yes."

"Excellent. It'll be a good surprise, I promise."

He could sound confident, at least.

Away from the shark music.

...Where Shark Week is on.

I have absolutely no work to do, so if I'm slow at all this afternoon it's because someone is hogging the copier and I am reminding myself I can't yell at them.
