A Rooftop in the Warehouse District, Monday Night

It was a good night to do some rooftop lurking.

When wasn't it a good night to do some rooftop lurking? Never, that was when. Robin might be out here for a while, too, occasionally scanning the town with binoculars or hopping from roof to roof (with unnecessary acrobatics, of course).

It was just a thing she did. No, she didn't turn up a whole lot of anything in the way of crime, but it never stopped her from looking . . .

[OOC: Open, as you do. As always, that Robin's around is fine for broadcast, but not that it's Steph.]

Those acrobatics were totally necessary. It was practice for the next Olympics.

Really.

Never mind the guy in the metal suit if armor landing next to her. Because that wasn't showing off or anything. "You know, one day there will actually be a crime and we'll be so confused."

"It'll be a bear robbing the bank and who can take that seriously?"

Why were they allowed to talk? Really now.

Damn it, people! This is what happens when you slack on the job!

"And then it will be up to us to lure them out with honey or picnic baskets."

Just in case it was a Winnie the Pooh or a Yogi Bear style criminal.

You couldn't really see it with the helmet on, but Iron Man was giving you such a look for that pun, Robin. Such a look.

You know, it really was a good night for some rooftop lurking. That's why Spider-Woman was out and about, getting a little more familiar with the town from a few stories above the street. And the best places to catch an occasional webline without, you know, smacking embarrassingly into the ground.

The one thing she didn't expect was another joker in a costume doing the same thing. Minus the webs. Presumably. So that made her stand on a rooftop awkwardly for a second once she noticed the other girl.

[OOC: Yeah, I couldn't resist this.]

"There's a club?" Spider-Woman asked, stroking her chin ponderously. Look, it was hard to give expressive looks with a full face mask. "Don't tell me there are fees because this gig doesn't pay very well."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2012-09-11 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, wild and dangerous. I saw one guy on the street leaving one of the bars and he looked slightly buzzed," Spider-Woman mused before settling into a comfortable crouch. Because it was fun to reinforce the creepy spider theme sometimes. "If that's the worst the gang has to deal with from day to day, I'm a little concerned about how fun this club actually is."

"Thanks. I mean, I work at it, and I think it pays off," Spider-Woman said. She aimed two fingers at a spot on Robin's roof and fired a web which she then used to pull and flip herself in closer.

Instead of, you know, walking. Or jumping. It was all about the theme, people. "Spider-Woman. Nice to meet you. Unless you try to kick in my head and reveal that this DJ talk was just setting me up. Please don't do that."

"A friendly, neighborhood spider person?" Iron Man asked. Because his world was so freaking weird that apparently Spider-Man was also a thing there. And possibly the same age as him. OR OLDER. WHO KNEW?

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2012-09-11 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"That's the guy. I prefer to think of myself as more intimidating and from parts unknown," Spider-Woman suggested. "Maybe from this neighborhood. Maybe from some other neighborhood entirely. You have no way of knowing."

[identity profile] craftyladyparts.livejournal.com 2012-09-11 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, try not to be shocked by the lady in the mask trying to build up some mystery," Spider-Woman said. "I know that us masked folks tend to be open books."

[identity profile] hoorayimrich.livejournal.com 2012-09-11 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, we're all open books here." Totally! "I like long walks on the beach and eating cookie dough. See, we're learning all about each other."

So... the thing about living on an island with people with inclinations towards the superhero-y thing was that sometimes, you were just walking back from the dorms when someone's stream-of-consciousness thoughts about velocity, ideal attack angles, and other such things filtered in to your head.

... Or at least it did if you were a telepath. And to be honest, most of the time Toby ignored it, like he ignored (roughly) 90% of the thoughts people had during the day. But lately the guilt regarding knowing something a certain someone didn't know that he knew had been kind of getting to him, especially since she was back on the island.

So he pulled up the hood of his hoodie and made sure to deliberately run in to her line of sight before darting in to an alley.

Hopefully that'd catch her attention.

[ooc: Toby's here for Steph and so will conveniently miss the fact that anyone else was flitting out and about in costume, unless of course that's okay for him to pick up on.]

"Was I?" Toby asked, still sticking to the shadows for the moment. "I've never tried for shady before. Sneaky, occasionally, but shady's new to me."

"I may have been deliberately trying to catch your attention."

Because that was ever-so-much better than just being generally lurky.
