Caritas, Friday Evening

There was just the one bartender present at Caritas tonight. Mike suspected this meant Tino was somewhere dealing with teenage angst. He was more than cool with being on his own, though. He could use a Friday night without inexplicable glaring, and he'd gotten used to the zombie band enough to be comfortable being alone with them. In fact, he was comfortable enough to start making song requests to pass the time. Yes, this meant he ended up dancing to Electric Avenue behind the bar. Yes, for some reason he kept to old songs, because he had no idea how long the zombie band had been undead.

And no, not that kind of dancing. Just... grooving.

Boy had some moves, though.

There was only so much time one could spend at a teenaged party when you didn't drink and were apparently close to being one of the oldest ones in the room. Allie left, intending to go back to the Devil's Nest and check on Tiny, but decided to make a stop at Caritas first. Maybe there'd be someone who'd been through puberty around.

Oh my....

"Hi Mike."

After Max's party, where Laurie didn't stay long because...look, even she could only hang out with a bunch of teenagers for so long, she'd decided she needed a stiff drink. Because seriously. It was like, half-envy and half feeling weird about being the oldest person at a party. She was so used to Ellie and Jules!

"Oh, thank god," she said, slapping her purse down on the bar as she took a seat and offered Mike a relieved grin. "Another person over eighteen. Why're you dancing?"

She'd noticed, yes. She wasn't that put out by creepiness.

Mike was definitely an adult, and had been for a nice long while. Also, wearing a tank top.

"Allie!" Of course he remembered everyone's names. It was a small town, even if he'd been just a little intoxicated when they'd met. "Hey! Welcome to Caritas."

"Be...cause?"

Mike did not have a good reason for it, no. He laughed. "I don't know, I just got the band playing some tunes 'cause it was a little too quiet in here."

"You're a good dancer," she assured him, raising her brows. "Don't stop on my account or anything. I was kinda hoping I'd come in and you'd be normal-you, anyway, so my night's already made."

No ogling Allie. That would be wrong. She was just going to smile and appreciate the view. There was a difference. Honestly.

"Thanks." She shot a wary glance at the zombies before taking a seat at the bar. "I am so glad to see some besides Tiny that's older then I am. You realize the island's being weird again?"

"I promise, I will dance again if the mood takes me," Mike assured her in return, chuckling. "And that I'm normal me. Exactly the same as usual. Is there something I can get you?"

"Yeah, my housemate's a teenager," Mike nodded. "Which has been... surprisingly okay." Because teenaged Derek was a way happier sort than adult Derek was. "But yeah, I've definitely noticed. I think Tino's probably somewhere angsting away, too."

"Red wine, without any cork bits in it," Laurie asked. "Not that I expect you to add any, but I visited Tiny Derek earlier this week and he's not yet mastered the corkscrew, turns out."

"I know. I just saw him over at the party in the hotel ~~in a thread that still needs to be played~~," Allie replied. "There'd been talk of something called Spin The Bottle. I was afraid if I stuck around too long the game would start. That would be too weird."

"Yeah, I was wondering how that worked," he admitted as he went to get the wine. "'Cause his job's at the bar that wouldn't even serve him. I'm not that surprised if he wasn't great at it, though."

"Whatever, he can be bad at his job. That boy is adorable at fifteen," Laurie declared. "He smiles! I didn't know his face could do that, Mike!"

"Fellow adult!" Kitty greeted him, because this week was weird and she wanted things back to normal already.

Mike laughed. "Yeah, you really don't wanna get stuck playing Spin the Bottle with a bunch of teenagers," he said. "Even if they're all usually adults. Way I remember it, that game usually involves a lot of kissing."

"I've heard tales that he actually can," Mike shared, amused. "Just that it's pretty terrifying. But yeah, teen Derek... actually seems pretty happy."

"Boss lady!" Mike greeted her back. "Yup, I'm still in possession of all of my usual years, which is more than can be said for my housemate."

"You notice how people still aren't their right ages?" Kitty said, because that meant hello somewhere.

"Yeah, I saw him the other day. He smiles!" Yes, she was still on that.

"I think he has a crush on me," Laurie confided, because even she wasn't quite that dense. "Which, you know, is going to be amazingly hilarious whenever they snap out of this."

"Technically I am still a teenager," she pointed out. "I was seventeen when I was turned. And that was only a year ago. I just feel older." Allie was going to leave off the part where she was lacking a whole lot of experience when it came to kissing.
