Jake was at work. Jake was also feeling vaguely disgruntled. No, not because ninety percent of the island had just spent a week sailing around Turkey in the summertime.
Okay, maybe a little because ninety percent of the island had just spent a week sailing around Turkey in the summertime.
But mostly, mostly it was because tonight was the inagural broadcast of the Canadian Screen Awards and not only was "Screenies" a stupid nickname, but a particularly well-known CBC TV series that took place in his hometown had been all but shut out of the nominations. Not that Jake actually watched Commonwealth of Crosbie, mind you (the premise was a little far-fetched), but still. On behalf of St. John's, Jake was feeling snubbed.
