The beach- Monday afternoon

Kitty hadn't really realized just how exhausted she'd been until she woke up after noon today. And then she took another shower just because she could (sorry, environment!), sent out an email telling people where she'd be, and headed down to the beach for a little bonfire while the weather was okay.

And then in went the sleep clothes she'd been wearing for the last week. Part of her felt bad that she wasn't just donating them somewhere, but they were torn in places and there was blood on them and the smell would probably never come out. Besides, as soon as she did it, she felt a ton better.

So there you, go, Fandom. Have some catharsis.

Coulson approached the bonfire with the suit he had worn last week. Of course, he was wearing a suit that was essentially identical to it, minus the expected wear of a week of dungeon crawling.

"You served me well," he said, before dropping the suit into the fire.

Yeah, Kitty had to ask.

"You wore a suit?"

"You shouldn't be so surprised," Coulson said.

"But sleeping," she pointed out. "It just seems uncomfortable."

"My tailor has done wonders with my suits," Coulson said.

"At least you were more clothed than just about everyone else?" she tried.

"There was actually a kid in a suit in my camp," Coulson said. "Some of us just enjoy being well dressed, even at unexpected times."

"I'm jealous," she said. "Because I was not well-dressed."

"You just have to stay up working while dressed in a suit too late one night, fall asleep at your desk, and get kidnapped before you can wake up," Coulson said.

"I'm sure I could borrow one of Clint's, but I bet that would be the night we don't get kidnapped," she mused.

"The odds would agree with you," Coulson reasoned. "Unless you get kidnapped more than most people."

Kitty paused.

"Well, not lately."

"Do I want to ask why it was more common in the past?" Coulson checked.

She considered just telling him, considering knowing Clint's deal meant she kind of knew Coulson's, but stuck with, "I'm a mutant with powers the bad guys want to get a hold of, stuff like that. You know how it goes."

"Only vaguely," Coulson said. "We don't have mutants in my world yet. You don't turn into a Hulk, do you?"

"No. But I've met him," Kitty said. "I'm naturally intangible."

"That must have made things slightly easier last week," Coulson reasoned.

"You'd think," Kitty said with a frown. "That place screwed up people's powers. I was able to do it like three times the whole week."

"Ah. So not only did I have my suit, I also didn't lose anything," Coulson said. "I made it through last week pretty well, didn't I?"

"Now you're trying to make me jealous."

She was mostly teasing. Mostly.
