There were bunnies at the bar today. Why were there bunnies at the bar? Kitty had no earthly idea and she didn't actually care. You could probably spot one anywhere you looked: under chairs, on the stage, hiding behind the door... This was probably a health code violation but it was too adorable to be that bothered.

Also one of the tinier bunnies was totally fine with Kitty picking him up so she was just going to cuddle a bunny here and have the best day at work ever.

"There's bunnies at the bar," Tamsin said flatly. She didn't look nearly as happy about it. "Ugh. I need a really good Bloody Mary to deal with this. Or something else in the vodka spectrum."

"I can make a really good Bloody Mary," Kitty promised, setting the bunny gently on the bar. Its nose twitched adorably. "But if it helps, the bunnies are adorable."

"How did they even wind up here?" Tamsin asked, rather than be caught addressing the topic of the adorableness of anything. "Some rabbit person ditch all of their pets in your bar?"

"Probably not. I just walked in today and there they were. I found one in my desk drawer even." He was napping in there now. Kitty had taken pictures. "It's probably a Fandom thing and it'll be back to normal later."

And here was your drink, Tamsin.

Much appreciated, Kitty! The celery in these drinks was pretty much the only vegetable Tamsin ever consumed.

She took an idle sip of her drink. "Okay, not bad," she admitted, after a moment of critical introspection. "I'll let the fuzzy things in the bar thing slide for this one."

"I do my best," Kitty smiled, giving the bunny a scritch. "So I don't think I've seen you around before."

Tamsin took a bite of her celery stick. "Nice catch," she said, only half-sarcastic. "I got transferred here a few weeks ago. It's been a dream."

Total sarcasm on that last one.

"The place is completely nuts but it tends to grow on you," she said. "I'm Kitty."

"Tamsin," she replied. "Detective. And I spent the past three weeks chasing lawn gnomes, so I'm not sure that's going to work out. Unless someone hits me on the head repeatedly."

"Don't jinx it," Kitty advised. "Okay, so what's up with these lawn gnomes?"

"I have no idea," Tamsin said flatly. "They keep showing up on people's lawns. Really spooked the bouncer at your competition over here."

"They're not like, murderous or anything, right?" Yes, she did have to check, in fact.

Tamsin shot her a look. "They're plastic."

"There were killer dolls once. It's a question I have to ask," Kitty explained.

"Ugh," Tamsin said. She didn't quite register the level of shock and/or disbelief she probably should have, but there was only so much effort she was putting into her cover. "Nope, these were completely inert. And hollow on the inside. I smashed a couple. Doesn't seem to have kept Tiny from calling me in the middle of the night."

"With those muscles you'd think he'd handle them himself," Kitty mused. "Eh, maybe he was freaked by the dolls, too."

Tamsin shrugged and took a big gulp of her Bloody Mary. "You'd be surprised at how easily tough-looking guys can wet themselves."

Happy memories.

"I'm gonna say that I've been hanging out with the right tough-looking tough guys then," Kitty decided. "I've very happily not seen that much."

"I don't know," Tamsin mused. She bit down on the celery again. "There's a certain charm to seeing some muscle-bound jerkoff evaporate into a blubbery mess."
