There was a sign posted outside Caritas tonight.

*as in mic(rophone), but bartender is open to suggestions

Hey, Mike had been listening to the radio, he knew they had a busker around now, and it just seemed like a fun idea in general. People liked their entertainment, some people liked their performing, and Mike liked both. And he liked trying to draw people in, even with the guaranteed full house of tomorrow night's speed dating.

Tino was grumbling about something, but wasn't he always? Mike paid him no mind.

Jess had been meaning to come by the bar at some point, so tonight was the night for that. Even if the bar looked a little different than what she was used to.

"Wow, this place has a lot of character," she said, actually meaning that.

"That's a new one," Mike informed her with a chuckle, putting the glass he'd been cleaning down on the bar. "But it's much better a reaction than, say, 'argh zombies'."

"Zombies," Mike said, nodding towards the stage and the band. No one's limbs were falling off at the moment, thankfully. "Yes, they're real and no, they're not dangerous."

Jess eyed the stage, not really believing they were zombies because she hated scary movies and no, just... no. "You guys are really into Halloween, huh?"

"Yeah," Mike sighed, because sometimes it didn't seem like a good idea to stress that yes, yes those were real zombies. It'd either come with time, or she'd go on happily believing they were wearing masks forever. "Yeah, we are," he said. "Hi, I'm Mike. Is it the open stage or the booze that brings you here tonight?"

"The need to get out of the house," she said. "I'm Jess. And someone else needs to get on the stage first."

And maybe stay there. Closer the zombies than her. Just in case.

"Well, give it a while, maybe someone will." Even if it would be him. Hey, he knew he had nothing to fear from the zombies apart from the occasional bit of slobbering. "In the meantime, can I get you something, Jess?"

Enough time with Nick meant she was curious if he'd be grumpy about it or not.

Karina hadn't really been planning on going to the bar but the sign had drawn her in like a moth to flame.

"Hi! So, like, does that 50% off include non-alcoholic drinks too?" she asked curiously.

"Indeed it does, miss," Mike confirmed with an easy incline of his head. "I'm not about to start pushing booze on people who don't want it."

Karina blinked at him for a second.

"Oh! No! I didn't think that was what the sign was saying," she said quickly. "I just meant, it's a bar, most people probably drink booze but I... don't. Even though this is the bar that sells to those underage, so I could, if I wanted."

But she was underage and so she wouldn't. Karina was like that. And she was rambling. Awkwardly.

"...Sorry?"

That was some impressive rambling. Mike chuckled, though not maliciously. It wasn't in his nature.

"Relax, sweetheart, I was just ––" Kidding? That would've probably been the closest to accurate, but he kind of failed to grasp hold of the word right then. "Anyway, does that mean you're thinking of taking us up on the special nature of the evning?"

"I like singing," she admitted, which was probably the most massive understatement of all time. "I'm thinking about it, anyway. Not sure what I'd sing though."

"Unless you're feeling extra adventurous. But, really, the band's pretty knowledgeable in, like, even stuff you'd think they wouldn't know."

She got that one! Karina laughed.

"If I didn't know the words, I'd make them up," she said, smiling. "That would be terrible. You'd laugh me out of the bar, so I guess I'm not that adventurous."

Giving the band a considering look, she asked, "Are they kinda like the library? How it's got stuff from all sorts of different worlds?"

"Yeah, kinda," Mike said, with his own glance at the band. He was seriously so thankful none of them looked to be in need of repair tonight. So thankful. "I mean, I don't even know how long they've been here but it seems like they've had time to absorb a lot of tunes, I can tell you that much."

"I was trying to pretend they weren't the walking dead," Karina admitted. "But ew, absorbing."
