Apparently the DJ had figured out what the fox says. Whether or not that was any of the noises from that ridiculous song...

Debatable.

Derek was just glad he didn't have to sit through that song one more time. Because he would have ended up throwing a bottle of vodka at the DJ. And he would not have been sorry about it.

Vodka had better not get thrown here! After yesterday's shift, there wasn't really any way Kitty wasn't going to show up today, sitting at the bar and asking, "Have you seen Stiles today? Also hi."

HI, KITTY.

"...no. He usually stops by, though."

"Okay," she said, nodding. "Did you happen to hear radio this morning?"

No, he'd been trying and failing to out together a ref costume for class. DAMN IT, PINKIE PIE.

"No. Why?"

She was tempted to tell him to pretend he hadn't heard it from her, but it had made radio so it probably didn't matter. "He kind of spaced out on me at the bar yesterday. It got me kind of worried."

And look how Derek zeroed in on you, Kitty. It was almost predatory. "What happened?"

"One second he was doing his homework, the next it was like he was in some sort of trance. He just kept staring and writing the same thing over and over till he finally snapped out of it," she said. "Have you seen that before?"

She was hoping for 'yes but it's not a big deal and everything's fine.'

"What was he writing?" Derek asked, mouth pulled into a thin, unhappy line.

She was gonna take that as everything not being fine.

"'Wake up.' He thought he'd dozed off," Kitty said.

"Another nightmare." He was going to be so mad at you, Stiles. AND ON HIS BIRTHDAY, TOO.

"Oh, he was awake," she said. "Unless he's taken to sleepwalking..."

Derek sniffed at him. "Did you keep a brownie?"

JUST TO BE SURE.

"I can't be in a good mood without being drugged?" Jack asked, with an air of innocence.

"No." Oh, they were so good at being friends, weren't they?

Jack made a face. "Fine. I just wanted to see what you'd say. I was bored."

Derek rolled his eyes, grabbing Jack a water with lime. "Tomorrow is my birthday. That's new."

"Happy early birthday," Jack said, taking the water and adding an extra slice of lime. "Are you ready for another party so soon?"

"God no." SO MUCH SOCIALIZING.

"Too bad," Jack said. "You still must have so many pumpkins to leave out for decorations."

"I could bring some by your place." He would. And then run off after ringing the bell.

Maybe we should see what the boss say.

It's dark so eeeeeaaaaarly.
