Trooper Station | Friday

Stiles had to admit he wasn't exactly looking forward to work after another sleepless night, but he had to get out of the house. You know. Before people got concerned.

He wasn't doing much in the way of work, just staring at his computer screen with a coffee in his hand, hoping he wouldn't nod off. Or maybe it'd be a relief if he did at this point.

Kitty had been at JGOB when she decided to just get an extra muffin and bring it on over and say hey. Though when she saw Stiles staring at his screen she started with, "You okay?"

Stiles startled for a moment since he had been completely zoning out at this point. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine, just tired. The usual."

"I have no idea how you deal with this," Kitty said sympathetically. "Need a distraction, or do you need the opposite of a distraction?"

"You can stay if you want," he said. "I really don't have much to do here."

"Well, now you have a muffin to eat," Kitty said, holding out the bag. "That should take up a couple minutes."

"Thanks," he said, taking the bag gratefully. "How have you been?"

"Better," she said. "I think all my personal shoes have dropped for now? I'm pretty much just teaching and making Clint take dance classes with me."

"Is he any good?" Stiles asked.

"He's actually not bad. And being willing to do it at all is pretty big," Kitty said. "So I'm going to be nice to him forever."

You know, because she was normally such a problem girlfriend.

"Good idea," Stiles said. "Most guys wouldn't be willing to do it. I mean, I like dancing, just not fancy dancing."

"The fact that you like non-fancy dancing is more than most guys, it seems," she said. "And then you add in a class full of people you don't know who'll see if you mess up..."

"I've got some pretty sweet moves." No he danced like a doofus, he just didn't care. "But yeah, classes wouldn't go very well for me."

"It just means you're better freestyle," Kitty said with a little smile. "So what have you been up to? Aside from the usual."

Stiles sort of stared at Kitty for a moment, like he momentarily forgot how to make words. In reality he was trying to figure out if he should say anything at all.

Kitty raised her eyebrows. "Uh oh."

"I sort of ended up in the hospital?" he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "For sleep deprivation."

"Oh my god." Realistically she probably should have expected that something like that might happen eventually, but she didn't. Oops. "Were they able to do anything to help?"

"Scott's mom gave me a sedative and I slept for awhile," he said with a shrug. "I didn't stay too long, didn't seem like much of a point."

He was not acknowledging the possibility of having his mother's disease, because he refused to accept that.

"Did they give you anything like that that you can take here in case it gets that bad again?" she asked.

"I don't want to take sleeping pills." For some reason that he couldn't explain he felt like that would be a bad thing.

"And I can't blame you," she said. "But if it's bad enough that hospitals are getting involved it might not be terrible to have something on hand for emergencies."

"It just doesn't seem like a good long-term solution," he said. "I just need to train myself to know what's real and what isn't."
