Groovy Tunes, Friday

Today was Elphaba's first day of working Groovy Tunes, and her first day of working in general in quite some time. Luckily the boss of this place didn't need her to submit a resume or have work experience beyond 'Wicked Witch of the West'.

As it was, she was still struggling with the cash register and wasn't entirely certain how to work it. That would either end in hilarity or tragedy. And probably a broken cash register regardless.

As for the music playing today, well, Elphaba couldn't get the CD player to stop playing a rather beautiful song about burning alive in a spaceship alternating with a song about diamonds. She didn't mind either, really, but she really wished it had a loop of more than two songs.

Stiles had to admit he wasn't exactly looking forward to work after another sleepless night, but he had to get out of the house. You know. Before people got concerned.

He wasn't doing much in the way of work, just staring at his computer screen with a coffee in his hand, hoping he wouldn't nod off. Or maybe it'd be a relief if he did at this point.

Okay, so Sparkle was getting kind of crappy at little things like showing up for work on his days to, you know, work. What could be expected from a teenager who was pretty sure he didn't have a boss anymore at either of his jobs?

Okay, sure, so somebody kept paying him for the shifts that he did pull, but he was just as inclined to blame some kind of weird island thing for that. Either way, the important thing was that he was here at work now, and putting out a display of over-the-counter contraceptives, sorted according to variety, and then pretty colours on the packaging. Because condom-box rainbows and dental dam checkerboards were awesome, okay?

They just were. Don't judge him.

[Open! SP from work, and probably tiny phone internets pinging when I get home later, though.]

"What the hell is that?"

". . . It's a jukebox?"

Eliot crossed his arms. "Okay, yes, I can see that, why is it in the kitchen? And why is it only playing inane teenage girl pop music?"

The kitchen staff looked at each other, then shrugged in unison.

"Fandom thing?" the cook said.

Eliot gave the jukebox a suspicious look. "There is something seriously wrong with this island."

"There's something wrong with your specials menu," said the cook.

"Oh go fry a fish maw."

Flyers went up all over today and, while they might not have been the prettiest things, Sam liked to think they knew just what folks wanted in a party.

Right? Right.

It was a quiet night at the Devil's Nest. As long as you ignored the gremlins playing cards in the lounge. They'd promised not to bite anyone, so Allie shrugged and told Tiny to start serving them drinks. Hopefully he wouldn't get bitten, but if he did, at least the night wouldn't be boring.

[OCD free!]
