Groovy Tunes, Friday
Today was Elphaba's first day of working Groovy Tunes, and her first day of working in general in quite some time. Luckily the boss of this place didn't need her to submit a resume or have work experience beyond 'Wicked Witch of the West'.
As it was, she was still struggling with the cash register and wasn't entirely certain how to work it. That would either end in hilarity or tragedy. And probably a broken cash register regardless.
As for the music playing today, well, Elphaba couldn't get the CD player to stop playing a rather beautiful song about burning alive in a spaceship alternating with a song about diamonds. She didn't mind either, really, but she really wished it had a loop of more than two songs.
[OOC: Open as open can get! Come at me, Fandom!]

It was around noon when Jono made his way down to check on his new employee, a plate with a sandwich on it in case she was hungry. Because when you lived upstairs and your employee was also your new flatmate, why not?
//Hanging in there so fa-- ah. Bloody hell. The stereo's doing it again?//
He couldn't imagine any other reason why it would also be playing Steam Powered Giraffe today.

And he liked that stereo. Even when it was being a jerk.
//Is that the only complaint about the day, at least?//
no subject
"I still don't trust that thing."
no subject
True enough.
//Is it giving you trouble?//
no subject
She did not like admitting defeat, especially to inanimate objects.

Jono gave the register a good thump with his fist. It made a ding, and then swung open for him.
//Piece of cake.//

...
//So, yes, more or less. I've been meaning to replace that.//

Pay no attention to her smirk.

A beat.
//And this sandwich.//
He wasn't going to eat it.

Arsenic, or perhaps some lettuce. Tomato. Cheese. Mayonnaise. Mostly just whatever Jono had been able to scrounge from the fridge without too much guilt.
no subject
"...Cheese?" She frowned a bit. "Did you ask the cow for the milk, and it gave it willingly?"
Elphaba Thropp, picky Vegan.

//The soy-cow was most amenable to the creation of this cheese. Said it kept her in steady employment,// he replied. //And the soy-chicken that laid the soy-eggs for the mayonnaise also gave me her permission, personally.//
In other words, yes, Jono had remembered that Elphaba was vegan, and had stocked the fridge upon her arrival with some of the basics. He'd dated a vegetarian before. This sort of thing was difficult to forget. The tomato and the lettuce he'd totally sniped from whoever had put it there before, though.

Or maybe the island was just making him get out and socialize more. Who knew.
Anyway, he headed into Groovy Tunes and got his first look at his old place of employment, and the person working there.
"Did we have classes together at one point?" he asked, because she definitely looked familiar.
no subject
Yes, she was being a smartass.
no subject
"Nope, never heard of it."

It's sad that he wasn't even joking about that class.
"Yeah, it's been a while since I graduated too. Six years for me."
no subject
She shrugged. "You have a name, Mr. Graduate Six Years Ago?"
no subject
"So, what brought you back?"
