Soooo the carnival was out this year, due to that whole murder carnival this summer. But it did bring the arrival of the Homecoming Fall Festival, which was open nice and early for everyone to get playing around and mingling. You might even be enticed to come in just by the dulcet sounds of the zombie band playing at the concert stage. Yeah, that was a thing that was happening.

There was plenty of new fall-themed stuff going on to see and explore, and who doesn't want to catch up with everyone who's come into town for the weekend? Come one, come all, and remember to stick around for the parade! Because this was a town full of stairs and that was gonna be interesting.

Oh and you were almost guaranteed to leave with glitter on your person but you knew this job was dangerous when you took it.

The carnival might be on a bit of a hiatus, but there was plenty of fair-type food to be had. There were probably even some things that tasted like pumpkin spice. You're welcome/we're sorry.

Atton'd just come back from Dantooine that morning, and he didn't feel much like socializing - except the fair food was right there, near home, and frankly he wasn't sure if he'd restocked his fridge before leaving anyway.

So there he was, poking around the food.

Maybe he'd even decide to go visit Anakin's dunk tank in a bit.

Sam decided to drop in for the food, at least. Okay no, he came back because he did like the place and it gave him some time away from Seattle. But, the food was a good motivator, at least.

This was where one would find Rory, if one was looking for her. Carnival food was a precious commodity, and didn't ever really belong in October, so she had always taken advantage of the fact that she could still get funnel cake here out of season.

Maybe two funnel cakes.

Anders bought a giant turkey leg that did not taste like pumpkin spice and chowed down. It turned out to be the kind of thing that was delicious for the first third and vaguely disgusting after that, but he kept gnawing away at the stringy meat. He couldn't see wasting it.

Éponine was very relieved at the lack of a carnival this year, that was for sure, but she would have been disappointed had there not been food.

Sure, she had to pay for it, but she could, so that wasn't really an object.

Lion-o thought the pumpkin-spice funnel cakes were a fantastic idea at first. He had changed his mind by the time he had his fifth funnel cake.

Yep, Jackson was back in town. Not only that, but his stuff (a bag with a couple of changes of clothes for the weekend) was already at the mansion. He had not actually talked to anyone when he'd come in and put his bag in the spare room upstairs before coming back out of the house again. Derek would know he'd been there. He hoped they could skip all the talking.

He much preferred being here and eating his fill, while critically eyeing the people around. With his usual air of superiority, of course.

Sam had heard enough about the carnival that happened over the summer to know that this fall festival thing was a good idea. Plus, he was kind of fond of pumpkin spice, so he was all over the food like the still-growing boy he was.

There were plenty of spaces to eat and people watch, or to catch up with old friends! Also there were fall-themed centerpieces, which yes, were fake and covered in glitter.

Everything was terrible back home, so it had been good timing to get away for the weekend. Not only did Jaina need a break from things sucking, but she thought it might take the heat off Jag for a little bit. Hopefully.

Jaina found a seat to watch everything and take in everything that was different this year while looking for faces she recognized. Also there was already glitter on her hands and she had no idea how that happened, she hadn't even touched anything.

It had been a while since Naomi had been to Fandom and since serving on the Rhode Island, wasn't able to get away as much as as she would have liked to. So she had made the effort to come back for Homecoming, managing to get the time off after arranging it with Captain Kim.

Once she got to the carnival, she grabbed a selection of food, found a table to sit at and had a look round.

Jim had welcomed the chance to come back to the island so Homecoming was a convenient excuse. He'd grabbed some food and plopped himself down at a table, kicking back.

Jessica took a seat. Honestly, she was exhausted. Late night last night on patrol. Early morning portal in which of course didn't get her to Fandom until afternoon.

But hey, she was here on a brief break from cleaning up the streets of New York. And she got to find out whether or not people recognized her with the short, red hair. All in all, things could be worse right now. (Which was exactly why she kept checking her Ultimates signal device just in case everything was going to hell. )

Everything was not terrible back home for Tahiri. Well. This Tahiri. (Really, you had to specify sometimes because it was always terrible in some version of the GFFA somewhere.) It was actually a bit of a slow period on Zonama Sekot right now, so she hadn't had any trouble getting away for a bit.

October or not, she'd kicked off her boots as soon as she arrived, and was not so much sitting at a table as she was wandering around the park barefoot, because . . . because that was what she did.

Sia got a drink, having gotten used to the fact that she was probably going to have to deal with pumpkin spice for the rest of her natural life, and found a seat. She'd wander off and do more in a minute, but for now she just wanted to sit, and be surprised that she didn't think the zombies were too terrible.

Pick-a-Pumpkin

There are plenty of uses for a pumpkin. You can carve them, decorate them, make food with them... And who doesn't want an excuse to bake a pumpkin pie? Pick your pumpkin, there are plenty for everyone!

Aeryn didn't know what homecoming was, she was just sort of curious as to what all this was. And she found it amazingly confusing.

Which was why she was standing in the middle of the pumpkins, saying, "I don't get it."

Petting Zoo

Who doesn't like animals? There are plenty of nice, harmless farm-type animals to meet, pet and feed in the pens. Make some new friends.

Ender wasn't sure what drew him to the petting zoo in particular - maybe his mind had been drifting off in these directions more and more since he and Ben took their first steps towards parenthood.

Either way, here he was, trying to coax the chickens closer with a hand full of mealworms. It was harder than he'd anticipated.

There was an area set up for you to all hear the headliners today: the Caritas zombies!

While everyone was going around having fun, the zombies were playing stuff off their own albums along with plenty of covers, and also Tino would occasionally pop out to fire a T-shirt gun from the stage, so enjoy that!

Corn Maze

The island might not seem big enough for a giant corn maze, but once you got in this one, it'd seem much bigger on the inside.

This looked...interesting. Nathan had just been wandering around but now he was standing at the entrance of the corn maze and wondering how easy it'd be to get through.

He was going to give it a try, at least.

Hay Bale Obstacle Course

There was a smallish pyramid of hay bales, and you might be wondering what to do with them. Climb over them, of course! Get over the top to the other side just to say you did it! Be careful, though, hay is rough and can be hard on the hands.

Yeah. Jessica had to do this. She took a casual approach, jumping from the first stack, planting her hands on the second to spring her to the third, leading to a backflip over the top.

Students had been working hard on getting their floats together, and now it was time to show them off! There was a route marked around town so you could see it almost anywhere!

And there was a good chance you might get glitter bombed. Sorry.

Okay, sooo the floats on stairs were probably a bad idea but Fandom is a town of problem-solvers!
