It was still weird, being able to text with a person until a few weeks ago was supposedly dead, but it was also kind of cool. Even if things were still a little stilted there because again, weird.

And lest you think it was inappropriate to be texting an ex, mostly she was just catching Peter up on pop culture in between working. Currently she was explaining that yes, the Kardashians were still a thing, and no, she didn't know which hell-type being they'd made a deal with to make that happen.

Flash made his way into the bar much more easily than usual. He was just straight up using the symbiote for legs right now, not even bothering with the artificial ones. With where he was going, he would need to do that confidently without showing fear of losing control.

"Hey, Kitty," he said, walking up to the bar. "Could I get a Coke?"

"Sure," she said, going to get it. "I have never seen you in here before outside of Three Minute Dates."

"That's because I avoid it," Flash said. "I have way too many glasses with things that aren't soda in my past. And bottles. Lots of bottles."

"That's what I figured," she said, setting his Coke down in front of him. "So what brings you here now?"

"I wanted to say goodbye. I got a good offer on a new set of missions and I'm going for it," Flash said. "I just have to send a bunch of my stuff into storage and then I'm shipping out."

"Oh, that sucks," she said, and quickly added, "I mean, it's great and I'm happy for you but now I can't stick my head through your ceiling when your teams are playing."

"You can always feel free to text," Flash said. "It'll might be nice to have some friendly, non-work conversation during any off-time."

"Considering what I'll be hearing from the other people I'm working with, I doubt some ragging on my trrible team will be too bad," Flash suggested.

"Good," Kitty grinned. "So what are you off to do? Anything you can talk about?"

Not that she hadn't been coping with last week by drinking a lot already, but sometimes you just wanted to do it with a friend around, which explained Éponine's presence tonight.

"How are the band's music sales?" she asked, swiveling idly from side to side on the stool she'd claimed.

"Not great, but things have been kinda crazy," Kitty said, giving her a smile. "Obviously you've just sparked a bunch of Christmas sales."

Éponine laughed. "If you find yourself running out of room to keep the drinks around here, let me know and I'll see what I can do to take some of those CDs off your hands. It hasn't been good, lately, for thinking about things like spending a bit of cash on music. We've had other things to worry about, and I'll have a shot of tequila, if you don't mind."

Yes, those two statements were connected.

"Not a problem," Kitty said, getting a shot glass. "Is this a good segue to ask how you've been?"

"Oh, well, I s'pose I've been worse," Éponine said with a shrug of feigned nonchalance. "I didn't much care for our, ah, visitors, but then did anyone, really? I'm only glad it's over with. It's a nuisance, when the people you're dealing with can't be heard or seen. Did they bother you much?"

"I didn't see much of it," Kitty admitted, setting the shot on the bar in front of her. "But I'm not sure how much they could really mess with me anyway. Did you have a lot of dealings with them?"

"Only one, but --" Éponine paused just long enough to down the shot. "That was enough for me. Seems some mysterious notes aren't much fun when you're the one receiving them."

Pot, kettle, but she seemed to realize that, because she made a face before she went on. "No, I didn't care much for it. The ghost didn't seem to take that well."

"Ghosts rarely do," Kitty said, and added, "I assume. That's how it happens in movies."

"Are they something that exists in your world at all?" Éponine wanted to know. "They don't in mine, at least, I think they don't, but sometimes when I hadn't eaten in a few days and my head had gone funny I thought I saw them."

And then she did creepy things like pop out of the bushes unexpectedly in someone's garden at twilight, offer to water their plants, and disappear abruptly so they thought she was a ghost, so.

"Yeah. I mean, I think so. Everyone else exists there," Kitty said. "I think I've hallucinated them before, too."

Since you know, one of them that she'd seen wasn't dead.
